Hi, i've been growing my hair for around 1.5 years, know it doesnt look like it since i've been pressured into a lot of trims to 'neaten it up' by my family. Anyways at the moment it's realy thick and hard to control my parting and was wondering if that'd change or look more natural after it gets to chin length. Thanks for any advice
You should stop trimming right now!
You're stuck at the 8th month lenght... in 1.5 years, my hair was already shoulder lenght, or at least really close to that.
So please, don't cut your hair anymore. It will surely settle down when longer, but you can't cut it so it grows right?...
Your family is not suporting you, they state trims because they know that's a way to get you stuck to the short hair.
I wish you the best luck =) You seem to have nice hair =)
I've been growing mine for 1.5 years (19 months to be exact) and mine is "almost" mid back, and I'm 6'1" tall, so that's no mean feat. I've not cut it once since I started growing it, so the "neatening trims" don't do any good at all.
Do you have pictures?
Afraid not - Don't have a camera. But I'm starting college later on in the year, someone will take a picture with any luck.
Heh. Well, I've been without a haircut since December 2005. That was the month that my friend's mother insisted that I get my hair cut for the yearbook picture, and of course I wasn't the sort to argue by any means at the time. The "trim" took me from about four month's worth of growth to less than an inch.
So, it's been about 15 or so months since the last time I set foot in a barber shop. People keep trying to trick me into getting another "trim" to "even it out" for, what, the umteenth time? I'm not falling for that again.
This is how I look now. I've begun taking monthly update photos as of 2/17/07, an idea I got from various users on this board. It makes it easier to view the progress. I hadn't noticed the difference in length since my graduation photos last May, and after that when my friend came back from vacation after four months, he said "Wow, your hair's gotten longer!". Feel free to view my Photobucket as you see fit.
Anyway, the point is my hair is chin length, and on top of that it's not even perfectly straight. Maybe your hair grows slow, or maybe it's too many trims, but you shouldn't be tricked into any more trims, because it certainly doesn't help. Your hair will pretty much even itself out as it gets longer. Schools still subscribe to that primitive belief that hats are disrespectful for whatever reason (as long as you aren't a member of some recognised exception, apparently... -_-), so it was hard to grow my hair out when I was in school, since I could only wear my knit cap outside of school. Yeah, people made fun of me a lot, but they did that a lot in the first place.
Point is, I've waited it out and now I look much cooler than I did before!
(How I always looked before I grew my hair out.)
Yeah, it's called "awkward phase". Just try to ignore your parents as much as you can. People believe it their business to piss you off, and supposedly they "mean well". If only they could leave well enough alone, but we live in a world of idiot sheep who question not their master. People aren't allowed to be themselves, especially people like me. Ah, but I've ranted long enough. People want war, not peace, and we're being stripped of our humanity, I can babble the same nonsense all night but I'm boring you now.
Seriously though, my hair was very impossible to control. I didn't like the afro look, so I went with a stylish knit cap as much as I could, and dealt with the trash the best I could. Occasionally, I would wear a jester's cap, among other costumes, because I'm eccentric and like to be myself, along with scaring all the boring normal people and getting a few laughs as well. I stopped once I was beaten for it, but I have to say it was worth it. XD
People are so boring and lame, with their suits, shaved, gelled, and spiked hairstyles, novelty t-shirts, and jeans... -_-
