I'm at about 9 months of growth and my hair is starting to trap the smell of cigarette smoke. Any ideas on how to remove the smell aside from the obvious(quitting)?
when my oldest son was small for some reason his hair smelled sour. I used a conditioner mixed with lemon juice. You might try misting which is distilled water mixed with some kind of EO shake well and then mist your hair with this mixure
I don't think you can remove it totally, as you will probably be smoking in the day your hair will pick it up, so I imagine the shampoo smell will only last a little while...
Maybe wear a hat while smoking and then take it off when you're done?
My blog, with more pics and weird stuff
Especially during the Victorian age, but much less so now, the smoking jacket accompanied by the ancillary smoking hat was employed by the courteous gentleman to protect his clothing and possibly hair from the fumes produced by smoking tobacco so that the scent thereby resulting would not cause his lady offense at a later time. At any rate, any type of head covering would to some degree reduce the amount of smoke in contact with your hair reducing the retention of the smoky smell.
Perhaps try a shampoo with a distinctive fragrance (providing you don't have a really sensitive scalp)?
Aveda Shampure will make your hair smell like you've been hibernating in a sweetshop. Fudge - name says it all. And then there's Alberto Balsam's Strawberries and Cream. The smell is divine but the shampoo didn't suit my hair (a bit drying).
I smoke but I've never noticed too much of a lingering smell unless I've been in a club/pub all night.
The repulsive smell of cigarette smoke cannot really be avoided by shampoo, cologne, etc. It is a choice. Give it up, or smell like an ashtray, man.
Well thanks to everyone for all the replies. I suppose i'll try wearing a hat.
