Hello everyone,
I'm thinking about having the back of my hair cut. The back is getting way long. I know I have a long way to grow to get rid of the layers. My question is I should just get the back cut and nothing else, no sides right, don't want to mess anything up. any help will be great.

Hello Eric: I think it would depend on hair type and desired end result. I have thick hair and LOVE the feel of the hair in back hanging on my neck and shoulders. I haven't had any trims so it is layered naturally. I think it was Ken, maybe someone else who posted a pic of his (lower back length) hair that formed a natural V shape when allowed to grow out naturally. Again, it depends on what your goal length is because eventually it all evens out and the "layers" are less obvious if at all.
I'm sure there's more to it than that and if you want it all to be the same length there is a specific technique similar to what you asked about. However, IMHO cutting of any kind in the early years pretty much defeats the purpose (of growing it LONG) Bruce'ster

Depends on what your final goal is. If you are a fan of all-one-length hair, like I am then a back trim is advised at some point I would think. I'm in a similar position...wanting to get the back trimmed ( i'm at 12 months of growing) but I'm putting that off for at least another year. If you want a v-shape to your future longhair look then don't even consider a trim. For now perhaps you should consider letting it grow for at least another 12 months and then decide.

Well, if it's bothering you so much you might as well go for the cut. But I think it's way too early to lose so much length. If you want all one length hair that it's long you can have it in another year or so. But now if you trim it it won't be long. So I think it would be better if you still have more hair for now...
I had the same problem, the back grew faster than any other part of my hair so i had the back trimmed, didn't touch any other part of the doo lol
I'm just don't want the back to be longer then the front, I would like all the hair one length. So I was told to just get the back cut and nothing else. I'm just trimming it.
