Hey Guys,
Just completed 16 months of growing my hair out. Never thought I would get there.
Although my hair in the front have grown quite long, I think the hair at the back stopped growing after a while mainly due to tangles and splits. Going forward what do I need to do to make sure my hair at the back grows out proportionately?
Plus it's been eight months since I got my hair straightened. Although I donât think I need another round, I'm tempted to go in as it would add a bit of length. What do you reckon?
The hair at the back (near the neck) get real tangled most of the times, causing them to break. How can I avoid this?
Hi there!
Welcome to our community, I don't think I've met you before, so I would like to extend a warm hello!
Your hair looks great, it has good length and lots of shine, and does not look damaged in your pics.
In answer to your questions, I can see that you are concerned about splits and breakage. I noticed that you mentioned having straightening done, I would strongly advise against that, as it can cause the very damage that you speak of. I went through a similar period of slow growth when I straightened my hair for a time in my growing out period, so I stopped totally last year. My hair is beginning to thank me now, although some damage is still apparent, especially in back. My best advice is to let your hair be totally natural, that's always the best route to healthy hair. You can either let your current damage in the back grow out, or get a small "dusting" trim, to remove the splits.
Also, ensure you use conditioner after every shampoo, and as your hair gets longer, you can reduce the frequency of washings to ensure the ends do not get too dry. You can apply a small amount of beneficial oil on the ends as well, to minimize further damage.
Hope this helps, and happy growth!
David
