Holy hell your hair is getting long! Wasn't there a time when you were gonna cut it off? Im glad you didn't. It looks so much better at this length.
Keep on truckin'

I am becoming increasingly tempted to trim up the back ever so slightly, if for nothing else to make brushing easier, and reduce the bit of poofiness I have at the very tips.
But then I never make up my mind because I don't want to delay a full tail any longer than what my hair is already forcing me to.
As each week goes by, the bottom back parts of my hair get fluffier and fluffier to where it constantly looks messy, and frays out on each side of my head.
hmm... comments on this issue or any others?
Wow! Did we flash forward about 6 months or something? Your hair seems to have grown very quickly.
As for trimming, I wouldn't worry about it, especially if you're really wanting to get length ASAP. If you have a few split ends, just go after those individually. Otherwise, it looks great, Rome! =)

Rome, your hair looks fantastic. As for trims, I don't see the need for one. I know it can seem like eternity, but the most difficult stage of growing out your hair will be over soon enough. Once it will all fit into a ponytail, things will be a breeze. Straight hair like yours is the easiest type of hair to grow to waist length or longer.
Long red hair can look awesome. Take a good look at Floyd. When really long, your hair will look something like his.

When I was going through the awkward stage (BOTH times, --- in both the ealy 90s, and also after my Y2K cut), I had small trims to help me better deal with the wait. I know a lot of guys here recommend to NOT trim, because you'll get to the length you want faster; but as long as you go to a highly reputable stylist (preferably one who specializes in long hair), I've found that it can make the journey more enjoyable (and less tempting to cut it ALL off). Just emphasize to the stylist that you want as little taken off as possible, --- just enough to re-shape it a little better, so it looks less messy.
Be forewarned, though: a really good stylist, the kind that can be seriously trusted with long hair, is usually considerably more expensive than the "average" stylist, --- so be prepared to pay the mega $$$ (and bring in extra for a tip)!!!! Ask any longhaired female friend you have who they'd recommend. That's how I found out about the guy I occasionally go to (although now it's going on 3 years since I've last had a professional trim - lol).
Great-looking hair, btw! Hope it all works out.

I forgot to mention that during the 2nd time I went through my awkward stages (after the Y2K cut), I never experienced more than 1/4 inch taken off. During the 1st awkward stage period (back in the early '90s), even though I'd ask for no more than half an inch taken off, it would usually be a full inch or sometimes even more shorter. In Y2K, I switched to another hair stylist, --- one that *listened* to me, and followed through with my EXACT request... I pay more for his services; but I definitely get what I pay for now!

Hi Rome,
A heartfelt Happy Easter to you! The hair is looking SUPER there, you are blessed to have straight hair. Your growth rate seems to have taken off lately, it seems only yesterday that your bangs were barely at eye length. My opinion is that you need NO trims at all, don't forget, that as you gain more length, gravity will cause your hair to lay down better, reducing any "poofiness" you think you have now.
With the high quality hair that you have, you should be able to grow it easily to your waist or longer if you wish. Do you have a goal length in mind?
All the best,
David

Now that's some fast growing hair!!! I say don't trim the back, it doesn't look like you need a trim:). It looks great, keep it growing!
