I don't want to grow hair more than down to the neck.. So i tried the first time 1st January 2007 and i grew it without touching it exactly 4 month.. I decided to have it slightly trimmed 1st April 2007 because I was getting this kinda Indie california guy look.. kinda hard to explain but it gets pretty thick, anyways i wanted to just trim it but the lady at the hair salon took away like 2month worth of growing cutting it more on the sides then leaving it longer on the top so i thought what the heck? It looks pretty short now...
So i wanted to know how to best achieve this look..?
1. Shave it down and start all over?
2. Let it grow from how it is and just see what happens?
I have no idea myself on how to get it how I want but it seems pretty hard.
It depends on your hairtype. His hair looks really straight and if yours is wavy/curly you will have to straighten it or perm it which damages the hair a lot. Shaving it off will only waste all the time you spent growing it, so id say grow it and see what it looks like. If it's the first time growing your hair long, you might wanna just let it grow and see where it takes you. I originally only wanted shoulder length, but now I'm aiming for mid back and probably not stopping there:P.
KEep it growing and good luck my friend!

Well it's very slighty wavy other then that it's just a bit thick. I was wondering when I had it trimmed they just cut here and there till it was about 2/3 inch shorter on the sides around the ear it's even more short so if the hair on the sides are shorter than the hair on my head won't it look weird when it grows out a bit or what? or should i just let it grow till it gets the desired length then trim it or whatever?
Yeah growing it to the desired length and trimming it sounds good:).
Thanks for the reply's will see what happens during the next few month.
Choice # 1 makes as much sense as plucking all the leaves off a tree to make it green out more. Unless it was a horrible job of a trim, just let it grow...
That is a cool look . I think you should let your hair grow for about 10 to 12 months. Afterwards, You can go to a salon to acheive this look. Just take them the picture and request you want that same style. Simple! For now, Your main concern is to let it grow
People differ.
I have never been as happy in my life than I have been since my hair has reached shoulder length and can stay tied all day without strands flying about.
However, it has not been easy, though worth the effort.
The first thing you must do is find a trusted hairdresser: maybe your sister, brother, mother, father, or a professional down the street. Everyone needs a little clean up occasionally.
But before you ever allow any one to come near your head with a pair of sissoirs, you must let them know in no uncertain terms that you are growing your hair out and wish to do so as quickly as possibe. Then you must tell them that it is OK to take off too little, but that you will never speak to them again if they take off too much.
Consider even a signed contract, so you can sue, just in case you are a victim like the last Samurai.
There are overcompetent professionals who say to themselves, "Wouldn't he look cute if I did..." They may be right, but you must disabuse any hairdressor of any idea that that he or she can determine outcome. They are the technicians who do what you want.
But listen carefully. They may know more than you. You may sit down in the chair with a limited vocabulary. Check out what you understand your hair engineer understands by specific terms. Clarification is the best self protection, and insist that only the "Split ends," be removed.
And live happily ever arterward as a long haired man.

That movie had some kickass long hair, though I bet it was mostly wigs. All of the samurai, save for Ken Watanabe, had like 2 feet of hair (especially in the final battle, where they let it out).
