hi folks,
well,another month..another half inch of hair!lol!this month has gone by pretty quickly hehe.It looks as if the thickness of me hair has officially "left the buiding" though,I dunno what's going on! (perhaps because I tailed it before taking the photos?I hope).
^wasn't tilting my head back as much as last time,hehe..
^ that last photo was taken in april 2006,exactly 1 year ago.so,what do y'all think?is my hair fast growing?normal?slow?

I dunno, I'd still say your hair is pretty thick, Jacob. And for 20 months of growth, that is quite substantial length. Whatever you're doing, keep it up! =D

This is one awesome update, dude! Your hair is looking truly fabulous, thick, healthy, shiny and getting straighter by the minute. The bottom picture confirms this, a year ago, your hair appeared to be very curly, this year, it is mostly straight in the back, with waves on the ends only. I remember you complaining about slow growing hair in earlier updates, in my opinion, your hair is now actually growing FASTER than average (especially in the past few months), almost as though it's making up for lost time or something. My 3 year update is coming up this weekend, and you appear to be catching up to me, lol!

And I nearly forgot to add, I DO believe I see a BEARD in the making, congratulations, and keep up the great work! As Scott said in his reply to you regarding your hair becoming straighter as you grow older with different hormones kicking in, but your beard hair is thickening up nicely as well. (Yes, there ARE benefits to growing older, lol!)

Scott had some very interesting insights about your hair type changing as you grow older. How do you like the idea of having straight hair throughout, and having it for the rest of your life? Sounds pretty cool to me, doesn't it! It has always been said that straight hair not only grows faster, but also tends to grow longer as well. That may be the reason that your hair is growing faster these days.

yes,I decided to give the beard a shot,I guess I'll let it grow for 5 or 6 weeks and then decide if I want it or not!!do you really think it looks good?to be honest,I haven't given it much thought until a couple days ago,I was just not shaving due to laziness,lol!!

Actually, my hair is not that straight at all. On humid days, my hair gets much wavier, also, it is much wavier after bedhead has taken it's toll in the morning. Is your hair even straight in the morning, after bedhead?
Does your hair stay straight even in humid weather? That would be a REAL sign that your hair is getting straight, I know that's the best test of all, as straight-haired guys maintain their straight hair when the weather is humid, curly/wavy haired guys don't.
My hair always looks straighter right after I wash it, that's when I tend to take my update pictures! (cheating a bit, I know, but I would LOVE to have stick straight hair!)

I forgot to add, I just noticed that you asked about your beard. It DOES look great, HONEST, lol! The same hormonal changes that Scott mentioned are probably causing your beard to thicken up as well, pretty cool, eh?

Hey Jacob, your hair is looking great. It appears to grow at normal rate to me.
Another very interesting thing has happened, and I am not sure of how aware of it you are. You have straight hair growing in now, and I am 90% sure as to why. (This is assuming that you are not intentionally straightening it.) You are now a young adult, and no longer an adolescent. Your hormones and bio chemistry have shifted significantly, resulting in straight hair. It is possible that you will have straight hair for a long time to come, maybe even for the rest of your life.
Anyway, keep growing your mane, it looks great.

My guess is that once all of your current hair on your head has been shed and replaced by new growth, which could take as long as seven years, you will have straight hair throughout.
I would say enjoy it while you can. Your hair has a very unique look to it, being curly at the ends and straight further up. My friend Bill has a similar thing going on with his hair too, but he is 60 years old.
(You may want to keep a photographic record of how your hair has changed over time for future reference.)
In conclusion, our hair is a very good indicator of changes in our bio-chemistry.

Hi Jacob, I think your hair is looking great these days. I bet the reduction of thickness is partly because of being tailed earlier and because of added length. It seems that even with initially poofy hair like you and I have, the increase in length and the weight of the length reduces the volume a little as it goes. To some extent, I have noticed that lately, but you are way ahead of me! I am coming up on a year from last May's chopping episode. I would guess your hair grows a little faster than average, but from years 1 to 2, the transformational aspect of long hair seems the greatest in that time. As for transformations, you would do do yourself a huge disservice were you ever to cut your hair. That is just my opinion of course, but I think it's a good one to have. And too, the beardedness I see creeping in is a good thing. Good luck finishing out this semester in school and hope the prowess of your grades matches that of your hair!!!

Some will remember the tale...
I had been trying at growing long hair from May 2003 and as a compromise was keeping it at or near shoulder length when I worked at the bank. In May 2006, I was given the ultimatum to cut it or get fired basically by a boss whose way of operation was characterized by a combination of stupidity, jealousy, and vapidity whose chief pleasure seemed to be inflicting emotional pain. At any rate, I cut it with the top longer at about 6 inches, the back and sides shorter. It's been nearly a year, and the growth is tremendous if I do say so myself. Not three months after that episode of the cut, I had resigned and found myself preparing for a new career. Not only did getting out of that profession allow me to grow hair, but opened up for me new possibilities. While I regret having cut my hair, in retrospect, the catharsis of it bolstered me for the future.

Congratulations! First of all, your hair has become so straight and it must be so much manageable! It still retains it's incredible thickness. It looks incredible, and I think it grows pretty fast! =}

Wow.........has your hair ever come a long way in a year and it looks fantastic despite having been in a ponytail just a bit earlier. Sure seems as if you are among the lucky that the hair-rate growth is faster then the usual.

Yep, it was a pretty good show. I was really glad to see Taker win the World Title. Also, if Hunter wouldn't have been injured, he probably would have beaten Cena for the WWE title. I think those were the plans before his injury. In my opinion, that would have put this year's WM in 'best ever' territory. Oh, what could have been :-P
