My hair's grown 2 inches since my last update. Which was on March 11th. That's not even an exaggeration! I was quick to document it with a photograph and put it up here before the evidence was lost forever.
I think I can understand how it happened though - I am trying to build my body a bit (put on 35 pounds) before I take a long trip this summer, so I've been eating 6 full meals a day. Which is a lot more, and a lot healthier than what I normally eat.
The picture is right after waking up. Normally I'd smile and shed the sleeping-eyes for the camera, but unfortunately I do my measurements in the morning, so that's when it's most exciting. This is at 30 months (well, 5 days short of 30, I usually mark the anniversary on the 15th.)
Hope the rest of you are doing well and enjoying some similar benefits now that the winter dryness is over.
Hi Gylfi,
That is INCREDIBLE news, 2 inches in a month, I am totally blown away to hear that! That is the fastest growth I have ever heard of. I am lucky to have 2 inches of growth in 6 months, my hair is THAT slow growing. Also, has your hair become a lot straighter? That has happened to Jacob recently and his growth rate has also taken off as well.
I must start eating 6 meals a day, lol!
Keep up the impressive growth,
David
I noticed Jacob's hair has always gone through a couple spurts of its own! My hair is still the same now as it has been for a while. Regardless of the type, I always measure by stretching it straight.
Tell me how that 6 meals a day thing works out for you, haha. It's working well for me with the weight thing, but I dread waking up now that I've practically got to force feed myself in the morning!
Damn Straight Man!!!!
Much excited for you as I had something similar happen to me when I was eating about 5 meals each day and working out 5 hours each day. I went up to 1.25 inches a month for 2 months, but that was when I only wanted to keep my hair shoulder length so I lost it intentionally to a trim shortly there after.
Its good to hear good news and even better when its about hair!!!!
Peace
clayton
Awww, shame you couldn't have that growth saved up. Hope you get similar luck again though!
So is there more to it than just eating 6 meals a day? I suppose you'd have to move alot too right? would fast aggressive walking do?
Sorry I can't do workouts because I have no access to weights...
Running is mostly all I've been doing, occasionally riding my bike for a couple of hours when it's warm enough. Don't have the determination to go to a gym, but eating's always easy, hehe.
Excellent length Gylfi, 6 meals a day, thats more than me!!
I take it you're doing something similar? Is that a lifestyle thing, or a temporary thing to meet some goal you've set?
Two inches in one month?!?! I'm sitting here grumbling at the thought of my pretty strict diet... Regardless, that is some unbelievably awesome growth, Gylfi! Let's hope it doesn't quit anytime soon. Good luck on the weight gain, btw. =)
-James
Thank you! I used to be on a bit of a strict diet too. I was living with a vegetarian, and there's nothing I love more than a big New York strip steak. I think that has something to do with why I lost a lot of weight in the last year. And maybe this whole 'bulking up' trial is just my excuse to binge, hehe.
That's great to hear! Longer is better!!!
I don't think I could eat that much though!
I assume to the trip of which you speak is to Iceland?
Are you brushing up on the Islansk?
I know you'll have a great time.
Here's a quote for you...It's a combination of some Gamla Norsk, Svensk, och Dansk but maybe you can figure it out.
Skjaldur Sniflason (ca. 930) sa: "En viking uden våben er som en vinter uden sne," men jag säger: En viking uden længe hår er som en vinter uden sne! Tell me what that would be in straight O. Norse if you have a minute...
Bragi
"En viking uden våben er som en vinter uden sne," men jag säger: En viking uden længe hår er som en vinter uden sne!
"A viking without his weapons is like a winter without snow,"
But i say: "A viking without long hair is like a winter without snow!

Aww, Aleksander stole my thunder on that one! I couldn't solve it to perfection anyways - I've been slacking quite a bit lately. It's hard to stop procrastinating. Even now I'm pushing off a deadline just by being here!
The trip is actually not to Iceland, but it's pretty close. I'm going to be visiting my family in Sweden first, and then going from Norway to Svalbard! I'm going to be in Svalbard for 3 weeks, and then from there I'll be going back to Norway for 6 days just so I can wait for the next fairy to the Shetland Islands. I might actually be going to Iceland afterwards too, but I was hoping to bring my girlfriend along, and we haven't got any definite dates for when it'll work out for both of us yet.
where in norway are you going to be?

Well before the North East wind duth blow, that's great news indeed and that above average hair growth and it's good to see. Not everyone has the growth rate and it's great that you have documented it. Nothing wrong with having a good diet and exercise and can make all the difference sometimes.
Keep it growing and let's see if the rate continues.
Cheers,
John.B
Ahh, if only it would keep up. I have absolutely no expectations for that! I'd have a lot to brag about if I could lay claim to a 24 inch/year growth rate though. Right now I'm at around 9 inches per year, which I'm very thankful for. I had a standstill in the winter, so I just consider this spurt as something that's a bit overdue.
Thanks for sharing this, --- WOW, I still can't beleive anyone can grow that much in just a month!!!
As far as "winter dryness" goes, though... Here in California, we have just the opposite experience: winter is our rainy season. Spring is when we gradually stop seeing rain, until by summer, we have no rain altogether.
Take care, and thanks again for documenting this growth spurt!
- Ken in San Francisco
After a growth standstill in the winter, I'm very happy with what I've gotten in the last month! In Minnesota we're pretty seasonally accurate - dry winter, very humid summer, complete with mosquitos. As it turns out, I'll be going to San Francisco again pretty soon, so I'll get to experience some of that summer dryness firsthand.
Absolutely remarkable that this should happen.........but I'm glad that it has for you.
Keep eating! :-)
Thanks very much for the words, Justin!
My hair grew 1 inch last month and i thought that was a lot, but 2 thats just amazing
a.
I hope that rate keeps up for you as well! I don't think I have a chance of holding onto this rate for much longer. Even if I could keep it up, I'd have to stop eating so much eventually :(
Excellent growth there! Man, do I wish my bangs grew as fast as yours. I changed my diet recently as well and noticed a little spurt which was a pleasant surprise. Definitely not 2 inches in a month, though...that's just incredible. Hair looks great!
In what way did you change your diet Gman?
Been experimenting with a vegetarian diet, upped my intake of water considerably, taking a multi-vitamin daily and been doing a lot of running - Changes brought on for non-hair related reasons and the jury is still out regarding any affect it's had on my growth. With countless other factors involved it's hard to tell, really. I'm just fully enjoying having my hair long again and any bump in growth is always welcomed. Cheers!
Has your growth rate kept up with the spurt after you changed your diet? Or is there some sort of acclimation that hair goes through with changes in diet. Would be interesting to find out!
Good for you Gylfi! I see a small but NOTICABLE difference in length. Thanks for sharing and good luck to you man.
Good luck to you too, Chris! I'm glad it's noticeable even from afar - it'd be a bit dismal for me if 2 inches seemed like nothing. Means I'd have to be a lot more patient!
Awesome! Good luck building yourself up.
Mouse
Thanks for the words, Mouse! Good luck with your growth too.
