Spring flowers are beautiful here in San Francisco now, so it was time to get out and take some "beard progress" pictures!
My beard's now long enough it blows in the wind....
And it is over five inches long now....
Bill
Fortuntely there are no flowers here becaus if there were they'd
get buried under the snow we'll get tonight and the next
snowsstorm we'll get on Sunday into Monday. Somone forgot to
tell old man winter spring wss here.
Right now it is a balmy 44 degrees. The forecast calls
for 6-10 inches of heavy wet snow.
And then we have another one headed for us on Sunday into
Monday. We're getting more snow this spring than we got in the
winter.
But then we got our warm weather in January.
Yeah, I threw in the flowers to give you guys some hope back there. Spring indeed is coming!
Bill
Cool pictures, beautiful flowers, and the beard and mane take the cake!
Mouse
The beard is proving better at taking up cake than the mane is. [grin]
Bill
Okay Bill, that does it.............now you have me jealous! Those flowers are beautiful and you must be at least 3 weeks ahead of Oregon. BTY: The beard looks great! Just don't let the wind blow it off! LOL
Prices here are very high. Do you think I could dump my place and afford to buy a shoebox to live in down your way? (Or Santa Cruz?) What about those 100 sq. ft. houses the government made tons of after the 1906 Fire caused by earthquake? Any of them left?
L U C K Y!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Justin~
(Currently feeling jealous.)
Hey, it's firmly attached! I'm learning that because it's starting to get caught in stuff. Just today at the kitchen table Larry pointed out that it had grown to within 1/4 inch of my soup! Tranquility at the dining table is about to come to an end, I fear.
Yeah, I know how much you love Santa Cruz. I really should drive down there - there are probably a million flowers right now along the coastal highway between here and there.
Bill
Just starting to get the early blooms here in the Columbia Basin. And you are way ahead of me on the beard. Gonna go to hemp fest in Augest? You would fit right in.
Never have, but I'm sure it's groovy and out of sight! Maybe someday.
Bill
hey Bill nice flowers and a very nice hippie.
you fur is looking good
Thanks!
Peace and flowers,
Bill
awesome photos,Bill, the beard is lookin ace!!I like this photo the best..the flowers in the background blend in well with the patterns in the shirt, and with the bandanna!!hell,if I didn't know any better,I'd assume you are a photographer by proffession, lol!!(or are you?)
all the best
-Jacob
He's a naturally talented photographer, that's for damn sure! And I aughtta know: he took my hair pics for my website, --- making me look good was NOT easy (lol)!!
- Ken
Hell, Ken, you upstaged San Francisco, the background, and that ain't easy!
Bill
My partner Larry took the photos. I had some input on where we shot them, and of course I chose what to wear!
Bill
An admirable display of pogonotrophy if ever I've seen one!
The 'shroom shirt really works for you too, that's great.
Matt B.
I've been delighted at how thick the beard has come in. One never knows how that will be until it is tried.
Bill
Wow Bill, the flowers look good, and your beard looks great. The hair in it is so straight. You should be able to grow it down to your navel (if you choose to do so) with a minimum of problems. I wish mine was that straight. Mine is nappy and difficult to deal with. My longest beard hairs are now 9 inches long, but yet, my beard appears to be only a little longer than yours, due to the extreme curliness.
I love that tiedye mushroom shirt. Please keep an eye out for one of those. I want to get one.
Absalom
It warms my heart to see YOU wishing you had someone else's hair of course. [big grin] Now you know what goes through our minds when we all worship our Hair God.
Bill
Wow is it Tiedye I didnt know looks alot better than some ive seen I would definitally wear that to Its AWESOME
Bill Where did you get it from sell them in the shop please !!
Axel
I'm diggin' that Amanita shirt as well. It's always nice to see your pictures as I get to see a groovy head and face of hair and nice shots of my beloved city. And all are looking great I see! Your pictures are always a pleasure...thanks for sharing :-)
Thanks, man. Glad you enjoyed them!
Bill
Hi Bill,
Absolutely superb there, Bill! Your mane is looking great and as for your beard, what else can I say, other than that I am awestruck right now. Your beard hair is very straight, VERY few guys are blessed with beard hair like yours. It will be very interesting to see how long your beard does grow. That is one cool shirt, blends in with the flowers perfectly.
As for those flowers, simply gorgeous, what would I give to get away from this wretched Nova Scotia climate and move your way. There is MORE snow forecast for Nova Scotia for Friday, yikes! If it wasn't for the fact that family and friends live here, I would seriously consider a move to the West Coast when I retire next year, a trip out your way in 2009 will have to do for now, I guess.
David
It was quite kinky until about a year ago. All of a sudden it began to grow in much straighter. That was what motivated me to have a go at growing it longer. It just looked like a mass of fur before then:
Sorry you're having to go through all that winter weather there now. Looking forward to seeing you in '09!
Bill
Holy smokes!!!!!!
That is what a real update looks like!!!
When i can, I will have a beard, but Im in no rush.
And where did you get that shirt from? I need one as soon as yesterday LOL.
peace
clayton
I got it at Haight Ashbury T-Shirts at the corner of Haight and Ashbury. They don't have it anymore. I know because Absalom and I were by there and he wanted one. [grin]
Bill
Looking gorgeous - mane, beard and all, Bill!
Great pictures!
- Oren
Hoping I can grow a beard like yours!
Is mine long enough for me to not get run off at the beard forums yet?
Bill
Absolutely stunning. And I ain't talkin' about just the flowers!
I sense it's time for me to get out and take some pics of my own mane... and maybe I can catch some of that Echium before its blooms fade to summer!
- Ken
Yeah, it's all over. Today we photographed stands of it along Hopkins Street and along Twin Peaks Boulevard near its north end. I saw a lot of great colors of it a few days ago at the marina by Fort Mason, too. But indeed, it's all over the place now!
Bill
Thanks for sharing this update Bill. Your hair and beard are as always wonderful and the hippie look is just the best. You certainly are surrounded by some beautiful areas.
The t-shirt is fantastic, in fact it looks as if it is of similar work to Peter Pracownik, an artist friend of mine who lives in Cornwall here in the UK. he has illustrated for bands such as Grateful dead, Hawkwind, Ritchie Blackmore and he himself played guitar in the Pink Fairies.
Anyway I digress, great update.
I tend to pick T-shirts for their great artwork, and that shirt is one I get a lot of compliments on. It's an awesome design!
Bill
Fabulous!!! Your beard is really cool and it goes perfect with the hair. The flowers are nice too (even though I never liked flowers not tasty I've tried them) Enjoy spring! =D
Lol
Your not suppose to eat Flowers lol Please tell your parents to pick Vegatables for you to eat and not flower LMAO
Axel
ROFL! The beard goes even better with the hair when I have combed them, because they both flow together as one mass of hair. Outdoors in the wind, combing is soon undone, but indoors after I've combed them together, they look quite elegant!
Bill
Great pics, Bill and I love your shirt!
Thanks! Great to hear good words from our progress pic champion!
Bill
Hey
Bill ( Aka God )
That beard is so you infacted I cant imagine you without it looks So AWESOME on you, Another revealing fact is the Tee Shirt you have on Looks so awesome to yup I mean the one with the Mushrooms in the middle looks awesome I notice your into purple which is cool same as the flowers to wow good job you are supporting a beard we would have never found you in all them Purple Flowers ( Grins)
Axel
Actually, I had some concern about looking too much like the flowers. They were swarming with bumblebees!
Bill
Cool beard. How long do you want to grow it? Also have you considered going into the T shirt biz? the demand seems to be there. LOL
I'll take two please! Do you take Amex? (grin)
I'm thinking of terminal, just to see how long it gets if nothing else. Once it gets there, I'll think back as to which length looked the coolest on me, and I'll go with that.
Yeah, I guess I'm gonna hafta guard that shirt! One should never underestimate how far a peace-loving hippie will go, to get his hands on groovy threads! [grin]
Bill
Love love love the beard and where on Earth did you get your mushroom shirt?
On Haight Street! Where else? [grin]
Bill
Great beard pics dude. i like the scenery too. It is beautiful!
great update.
Thanks! April is our prettiest month. The grasses are thick and green, and everything is in bloom. I always tell people who are thinking of coming to San Francisco, to come in April!
Bill
My mom would love it there, at one point we had literally 57 plants in our apartment that we used to live in. She used to do the ornaments for our city when we lived in Romania.
Beautiful flowers and the beard is looking awesome!!!
-Mihnea
Thanks! Because it never freezes here, almost anything will grow. It's a bit cool for food crops like vegetables to produce anything, but flowers love it here, and people plant a very wide variety of them!
Bill
What incredible, beautiful pictures. I can tell from your eyes and your smile that you are an inherently laid-back, peaceful personality.
Hey, Allen, life's too short to spend it all, like some people do, fighting!
Peace is good,
Bill
Hey Bill: I guess I must have missed your post this week, but I didn't want to miss out on giving you 2 thumbs up! I love how the beard is coming along, and your hair looks great too! Your expression is so peaceful. I bet you are the kind of person who gets lots of HUGS from your family and friends! You have that aura my friend. Peace brother -Bruce'ster
The more hair I grow, the more peaceful I get. [smile] The hell if I can explain why. Maybe "happiness with self" translates into "happiness with world". Maybe the militaries of the world really do not want us because we would be passing out flowers....
Bill
