I can hardly believe it's actually been nine months. My hair is gaining life every day, getting in my eyes, blowing in the wind, hanging down when I bend over. It's a real adventure and joy. And I'll say it up front that I love the color, I love the texture, and I have no desire to change either one. There's something to be said for enjoying the genetic hand you've been dealt.
Thanks again to everyone for all the support and information. With this group by my side, the one-year mark will be here in no time!
Mouse
I little scruffy looking, but I just came from work. It has character. :-)
"Scruffy"? Naaaaaa.
"Has character"? ABSOLUTELY! The combo of the striking red color and all the beautiful waves to your hair is a hands-down KNOCK-OUT!! It will be fun to witness your hair get longer and looooonger!
- Ken in San Francisco
Haha! Thanks, Ken! I like the "character." :-)
Mouse
Sigh...if only I could were these to work.
LOL I am actually wearing the same colour and style of bandana right now. (I was even able to use the excuse of a "hat day" at school to wear on on Friday -- Wow! Did I get some positive responses from the students! Everything from rocker to pirate to biker -- all of which were compliments -- and one younger student even said I "look like a 20 year old"...I had to laugh out loud.)
These things are comfy and keep the hair out of the face without any gel or gunk in the hair.
(I'll post my one year pics soon, by the end of next weekend.)
Shawn (Mr.Crow)
Cool! Sounds like you're having fun with this!
I know, they are a blessing...in many colors. :-)
Awesome! I'll be watching for it!
Mouse
Absolutely! I love 'em! They don't seem to keep hair out of the bottom half of my face, though, for some reason. [wink]
Bill
Gorgeous Mouse! I agree that your texture and color are just awesome. Great progress. We're with you to help you to your goal..
Thanks, Jason. I'm happy for the support.
Mouse
Hi Mouse! Everything is lookin really nice, you have thick hair with lots of shine, it seems to have grown considerably since your last update, especially your ponytail, it'll be interesting to see what another half a year will do:)
Simon
Thanks, Simon. It's fun to see a few more strands fit into the ponytail each week.
Good luck on your return to long hair!
Mouse
I didn't realize your hair was getting so long! That's awesome growth for 9 months, Mouse. There seem to be so many people who started growing on the 12th for some reason. hmm...
Anyway, nice photos! Keep it growing! =)
-James
Sometimes it just shocks me too, especially when I look back at pictures from even a few months ago. I actually have no idea what date my last haircut was on though (I just know it was sometime in July 2006), so I just figure roughly the middle of the month and go with that. And I have time this evening.
Thanks, James!
Mouse
Greetings Mouse!
Congrats on your 9 months. That's a great pic of you showing off your very pretty head of hair. Love that color and texture too! You should be happy about your genetic gifts indeed. I guess it's time for me to post my 12 month pic soon...thanks for the motivation.
Cheers to you!
Max
Thanks, Max! I'm looking forward to your one-year update.
Mouse
You look like a whole different person than the one in your avatar. Looks great, as does your expressions showing how pleased you are with it.
Keep up the progress.
George
Yeah, I submitted an avatar change to Oren. Figured it was about time...
Thanks, George!
Mouse
Looks great Mouse. I love the color! It has an very nice texture plus incredible waves and thickness! Great update.
Thanks, Chris! It always fun to put together update pictures. :-)
Mouse
It's looking great, Mouse. Like you said, it's always great to be able to enjoy the natural color and texture of your hair, because that's who you really are :) I love the reddish color and waves you have. How long do you plan on growing it? I think that midback or longer would look very nice.
peace
SOAD
Well, my initial goal was "grow it out enough to all fit in a ponytail and then see what I want." Now my goal is to have enough to do some of the awesome braids I've seen on this site. I'm really not sure what that's going to look like or how much longer I'll want to go after that. I'm open to possibilities.
Thanks for the compliments!
Mouse
Hi Mouse,
Your hair is getting better with every update, the thickness, waves, colour, and shine are outstanding in every way. I am really enjoying your journey, Mouse, and can only imagine how awesome your hair is going to look in the months and years ahead. Thanks for sharing these great photos with us, and keep up the fabulous work!
All the best,
David
Thanks, David! It's fun to look at other progress pictures, the journeys of the guys on this board to get a feel for what may be ahead...but ulitmately each month is a new surprise!
Say, when are we going to get an update from you?
Mouse
Thanks for asking about my update, Mouse!
Actually, I'm planning my 3 year update in the VERY near future, probably this weekend. Stay tuned!
David
Cool! Big update, comparison photos, shots of the new beard. Always something to look forward to on this board. :-)
Mouse
Gosh, what a jump from the last update, its looking quite long now, and as you say the colour and general healthiness are very evident.
You're right a year will be round in no time, and then things really start changing.
Keep growing, Regards Dave
Thanks, Dave! I'm looking forward to that year mark.
Mouse
Hi Mouse, You're looking great, and I must agree that I too think the colour and texture of you hair is very nice. You will no doubt soon accomplish your hair goals, I am happy that you have chosen to take the journey with us guys.
Matt B.
Thanks, Matt, it's nice to be welcome here. When are you going to post another update? It's been a while...
Oh, and [OT] how many languages DO you speak? I'm sure you've answered that before, but you seem very well versed.
Mouse
Hi Mouse again...
I probably won't have time to make an update till sometime in May. I have been going like crazy trying to finish out the semester (three more weeks to go!!!) and lots of other stuff happening too...
That'll be fitting as it will be one year as of May 10th that I've had no cutting done. The sky is now the limit in the hair department.
How many languages? Well, English is my best one by far. I like to think I'm pretty good at it since it's my native one.
But, besides that, Latin is my next best and getting better as I'm back studying it again. I can't speak it too well though since most of studying Latin involves reading and just translation. It's a shame though since it's really a pretty language when spoken with lots of potential to express clearly and concisely about anything one wants to say. It's kind of like Italian and Spanish or Portuguese with the rolled 'r' and has some really cool sounding dipthongs going on.
I've studied Portuguese and French formally in school. The Portuguese stuck with me but the French didn't so much. Time took most of it away. I've studied a little bit of Spanish and Swedish on my own, but really just enough of each to get me in trouble. I want to learn classical Greek and may start working on that this summer. Wish me luck. I need to learn Spanish though since Georgia is actually becoming a bilingual area. I was getting my tire fixed yesterday, and all the guys working there were speaking Spanish! Thanks for asking!
Hi
Mouse
Its hard to believe that you never had long hair before a woman of your caliber & your words sound very happy in the facted you are growing it out long Looks pretty impressive to your golden locks of hair, I can see by your other posts to this thread you are enjoying different ways to wear it and why not its sure coming along great !
Axel
Yeah, it's strange to think that I wanted it so short fo so many years. But then again, I was happy with that at the time, and at least now I'll never be able to say that I didn't fully experience short hair. Translation: I don't have to do that again. :-)
Thanks, Axel!
Mouse
Mouse, congratulations on your great progress! Your hair is nice and shiny, good texture, and of course I love the color.
Keep on growin'
Bruce
Thanks, Bruce! I take a few pictures every week, so I use that to see progress (and help encourage me onward and "downward.") It's just the usual 1/2 inch/month, but it adds up.
Mouse
Great progress Mouse - your hair is looking fantastic! You definitely suit it longer.
Thanks, Pablo! I feel like I'm growing into it so to speak. The best part is seeing the reactions of people that haven't seen me in six months or so. :-)
Mouse
Looks wonderful Mouse!
LOVE the color of your hair too. =o)
It's going to look gorgeous long!
Thanks, DeeDee! I'm looking forward to it!
Mouse
Looking good! Natural color is always the best.
Thanks! It certainly is the easiest to maintain, though I have seen some wonderful subtle highlighs before (done professionally) on friends and family. And a friend of mine likes to occasionally dye her hair pink or blue with some sort of water-based stuff that washes out over time. To each their own, but I lean towards the natural.
Mouse
So glad this is happening now Mouse. You are well on your way now to long hair.
Thanks, Justin! It's been a great journey so far, and I know the best is yet to come.
Mouse
The hair's looking awesome Mouse, you've come a long way from your avatar pic! And yeah bandanas and tails can make the process easier.
Keep it growing, it looks great, by this time next year you'll be on your way to mid back!
-Mihnea
Thanks, Mihnea! Bandanas ARE truly awesome...and addictive. They seem to multiply in my drawer...
Mouse
Very nice update picture, Mouse. You've certainly made some good progress and it sounds like you are enjoying the transformation. That's what it's all about. So, good for you! I'm really enjoying watching your hair grow so please continue to post your reports :-)
Thanks! Enjoying the transformation does seem to be key.
Mouse
Mouse,
Gorgeous hair, and a nice smile too, you look very happy in these pictures. It really does happen fast once you get into the swing of things doesn't it? Best of luck in the coming months.
~C
Thanks! It is somewhat amazing, isn't it? I mean, it seemed to take forever to get to four months and six, but now nine months has just positively surprised me! A year is just around the courner.
Mouse
Mouse, your hair is coming along well. Your hair will be a challenge to grow out due to the waves. As it gets longer the waves will relax under the pull of gravity. Keep growing it.
Absalom
Thanks, Scott! I don't mind the waves one bit, but I'm sure that gravity will have its say in the end. Each month is something new.
Mouse
ah..i see your hair is starting to get very volumous!!(is that a word?).ain't volume great?oh..and you have a great color!!keep up the good work,it's only gonna keep getting better and better!!
all the best
-Jacob
Thanks, Jacob! It certainly does have volume, especially in the mornings when it's sticking out to the sides. :-)
Mouse
Your hair looks great! Your previous update felt like it was yesterday, time really flies lol.
Now that it's longer the thickness is unmistakable and you should love the colour, it's great! Looking forward to your 10 month update.
Thanks! Time DOES fly, I can hardly believe that I'm closer to the 1-year mark every day.
Mouse
Goodness gracious, Mouse! This is great! Your hair has great colour and shine and it is really starting to take on a life of its own. Sorry, I didn't reply sooner, I am really busy these days and I post so infrequently that I am admitedly a bit out of the loop. Thanks for posting and growing and being a member of this great community.
