Hello All...
I'm new here. So ... here goes. These are 8 month pics from a shaved head with a wet razor. Do you think my growth is fast or slow?
I've seen some of the progression pics like Jason's ... dude you rock!
My hair care consists of washing & conditioning every 2 days. I usually put gel in in right now to prevent the "big hair" look. - Sometimes it leaves it looking greasy though ...
I don't like that too much. What do you suggest?
This is the longest its ever been. My wife likes my hair short though.... any input on that guys?? What will she think in a year??? lol
Tristan
Hi Tristan. Your hair looks a lot like mine, in terms of waviness. Choosing the right shampoo and conditioner will go a long way towards preventing "big hair", as will NOT BRUSHING OR COMBING IT!!! Just finger comb it. Wavy/curly hair goes frizzy when brushed. I personally use Redken frizz free shampoo and Redken conditioner for dry/damaged hair but I know a lot of others on this board would have other great suggestions. Also a touch of oil can help with the bigness and prevent split ends as well. I use Aveda Beautifying Composition for that (its mostly jojoba oil). Welcome to the board Tristan! Its a great forum.
Sometimes what I do to stop the big hair thing is mix some conditioner and water in a spray bottle (1:3) If you let it dry it stops the big hair thing without weighing down your hair. It does (surpisingly) dry my hair out a bit though.

Thanks for the suggestions ... My hair is very wavy like yours. I'm hoping to keep it somewhat tame while it grows. I've cut it in the past because of it being too "wild". - Not this time.
Tristan
Welcome! Hey dude, It looks great. I think you should stick to your routine because it seems to be working. I think a year from now your wife will be amazed! Hang in there and keep it growing
Thanks Chris ... this is going to be a long journey..

Hi Tristan,
I would like to extend a hearty welcome to you, you will find an awesome group of very supportive people here.
Your hair is doing VERY well, it is healthy and thick. You have made GREAT progress from a totally shaved head, your hair grows fast. Whatever you are doing is working just fine, I should add.
I'm sure your wife will come around to liking your hair as it gets longer.
All the best, and again, a hearty welcome to the you from the MLHH!

Looks terrific Tristan, that's decent growth.
My wife doesn't like long hair on anyone, and at first she protested loudly. But at about 9 months she realized that even with constant asking about a haircut, it wasn't going to happen! She now doesn't say too much about it, but I know she still pines for the days of short hair. It ain't going to happen!

You've got GREAT-looking hair, --- and it should look pretty damn awesome long, in my opinion.
There's a guy here who's wife at first didn't like his hair growing out; but just a week or so ago, he reported that when they were outdoors someplace, as he was walking towrds her, she was wowed by the wind blowing through his long hair, --- and I guess it changed her mind in a big way!
No guarantee, of course, how one wife feels vs. another... It's *your* hair (as well as *your* marriage - lol), --- chances are, though, that if this is something you really want to do and means something to you, she'll soften over time.
