Hi there,
Well I just thought I should touch base with the community and give you an update. As the "North-East Wind" has already prompted in an earlier post!
It's been about a year since I was diagnosed and came as a bit of shock but after the initial shock all you do is get on with life and take each days as it comes. I would like to thank everyone from the communuity for their support and concern it's nice to know and care. The music and photography have kept me going.
I've had a couple of courses of therapy and at the moment the prognosis is encouraging but not out of the woods yet. Still just have to be positive that's for sure.
Remember keep it growing and great to be part of a great community.
Cheers,
John.B
Remember, John, something that I learned during my recent illness and during a serious illness my partner had....
How other people do is irrelevant when it comes to a serious illness. All that matters to you is how John does.
They gave my partner a few years to live about twenty years ago. He recovered and he's still here. When my illness came along I remembered that, and I intentionally did NOT go off on the Internet reading how badly other people might have done.
Keep in mind, too, that the worst cases are the ones who tend to get deeply into the Internet groups. All the ones who are doing fine seldom post.
There is always hope. People would not play the state lottery if there weren't hope, and your chances are a HELL of a lot better than that!
Hang in there man. We're all pullin' for ya.
Bill
Hi John,
Thanks so much for sharing your news. I, as well as everyone here, had been very concerned about you. The fact that the prognosis is encouraging is WONDERFUL news indeed, may you make a full recovery. Just remember that ALL of us are pulling for you all of the way, you are always in our thoughts.
My best to you,
David
Nice to see you still taking part. You are in my prayers.
Wonderful news John, and I DO remember you telling me of your condition when you first learned of it last year. Your attitude has been so up-beat about all of this and you have proven the doctors all wrong with their time frame now by over 100%! May you continue on your path and beat this thing. Everyone has you in their thoughts for a full recovery. The heck with what the doctors told you. Thanks for telling all on the board of this great news.

Hi John,
I'm glad to hear things are positive and keeping a good attitude is so important when fighting an illness. As you continue with the treatments we'll all be pulling for you.
I've always enjoyed your contributions to the community they've been an inspiration as well as you've given us a laugh with your clever wit.
Keep it growing and keep up the fight.
Kevin
That is such encouraging news, John, --- and yes, your outlook is an inspiring example for all of us!
I myself had to be hospitalized about 3 1/2 years ago for something very life-threatening. It forced me to have to re-evaluate many things in my life, and make some changes accordingly. It's not easy. But having a positive attitude, and treasuring life (in spite of any hardship/illness), --- and going forward in a normal manner --- all make such a huge difference.
I have great admiration for you, and wish you a complete and full recovery!!
