Hi Everyone!
I've been hemming and hawing about getting my hair dyed. I'm 25 (26 pretty soon) and I'd say about half of my hair is white/silver. I've had white hair since I was 14 but Most of this has grown in over the past year. If my hair is anything like my grandmothers, I can expect to be completely white by 27. I am tempted to dye my hair because I am tired of having hair that is dark brown, light brown, gray, and white/silver. On the other hand, I know that if I dye my hair I will need to keep it up from that point on or chop it all off when I am tired of coloring it. Any suggestions?
by the way, you can't see all the gray in the back, the front of my hair is still darkly colored compared to the rest (i'll take pics this weekend)
Your hair sounds pretty - why don't you use a purple shampoo or conditioner to blend it and to make the white sparkle?
Thanks chamogirl. The white doesn't really need a lot to shine though. It already reflects the light a bit (me under a florescent or halogen light equeals lots of shine heheheh)
I don't know what it does look like (must see the pics first) but if it doesn't look so bad, it could be interesting to let the hair grow all grey/white. Maybe it would be a bit controversial, but in the good sense. After all, it may be similar like being an albino. Maybe it will look good on you. Really dunno, without the photos.
howdy Naex, here is a pic I posted a little while ago. It was taken 3/20/07. My hair has been growing out since 6/2/06 when I got it cut down to 1/2" on top and a 1 on the sides.
oh no don't color it - your hair is great as it is. It isn't an issue of aging but of simply stunning color.
Well, that is quite a noticeable silver color. Actually, you do look just like one doctor I knew.
I thought that you could get a blonde dye later if you wouldn't like the totally white color, but I'm not sure how it would go with black eyebrows and so on. Anyway, on your place I'd wait with more important decisions for the most consistent color as possible and kept growing the mane, of course.
I think you are fortunate to have hair colouring with what I call "natural highlights". Gray, White, "Salt & Pepper" hair really looks stunning. Stop thinking of these colours as only associated with aging and you will appreciate the look. My grandfather had pure silky white hair (young) which was absolutely gorgeous....I am hoping mine will end up that way also.
Good Luck

Nature is unpredictable. I am 72, and have hair, thankfully, but I started life 70 years ago as a blond and now my hair has darkened to a reddish brown with amazingly few gray stands, just enough to prove that it is natural. My beard is completely white, except under my chin where there is a dark patch.
My SO is 15 yhears younger, and he has enviable silver hair, but his moustach is dark black/brown. So go figure.
Think of all the advantages of premature gray hair. People will think you are older, and threfore more experienced and mature than you may be, and it may give you a significant advantage in the work place. Be sure, no sane person male or female will reject you because you have gray hair; on the contrary you will probably be considered more attractive.
Just don't let you brain or your body become prematurely gray --make sure both show the full spectrum of color possibilities.

Thanks for the input buddy ;) It's funny how we are in similar stances in relationships hehehe. My boyfriend is 37 and has only a couple white hairs, and I (at 25) have the coloring I described earlier hehehe. I guess that is just the way it is to be.
