Hey guys!
I thought you might get a kick out of this one. Over on one of the short hair boards "Curt" posted two pictures which he intended to demonstrate the superiority of short hair over Longhair. As you might expect, he blew it and, through the two pictures he posted, only proved just how irrelevant hair length is when it comes to determining who is or is not a "real" man.
I have worked up a page on my site which features these photos. Drop on by and have a look. Don't worry about any copyright issues. The photos are taken from the Fort Benning US Army Ranger School website and are free and clear for us taxpayers to use!
Keepin' it long!
Looking for other differences, I couldn't help noticing the fading on the older picture. Here is a retouched version and the original for comparison:
There is another interesting difference...anyone notice that in the 2001 class there seems to be nary a trace of facial hair anywhere? (Meanwhile in the '72 class several of the men have mustaches.)
Back then, the HighandTight gave the Marines a distinct look among the Forces. Now it is popular for everybody except the AirForce. We have An AF base here in the Charleston, SC area and it's more of a very neat off-ears, off-collar cut but the shaved head thing is still for the raw recruits and the Academy.
Now, talk about LONG hair on military personnel. Check out Richard Marchinko in his book ROUGE WARRIOR. He's got a picture of him in unifrom side by side with his covert ops days with the SeALs. As an active duty SeAL, he looked like a biker. He got himself and his men a grooming pass of some kind through the Sec. of Defense due to the counterterrorist "Unofficial" nature of his missions. They would pass themselves off as oil workers or consruction crews.
He never did go back to short hair and wears it in a butt-length braid. You see him on newsmagazines talking about Muslim terrorists and American Radical Millitia types. He is a Civilian security, investigations, and Media consultant. He was recently seen with Robbie Kenneavel's latest televised stunt crew.
