One of the greatest things about digital photography is that you can take and discard 413 pictures just to get a passable one.
I will make 16 months next week since my last cut. Here are a few shots of where I am at:
This shows the length fairly well from the front:
And here is one from the back:
And a pic of my tail. You can see my "racing stripes" in this one!
I finally FEEL like my hair is longer now. I still have a little way to go to keep everything in a tail without falling out, but I am getting close.
When I started, this length is what I envisioned. Now I'm going to at least Christmas (2 years) and reevaluate. Looking at mid-back.
Have had no trims; from the back shot I think I probably need about 1/2 inch to even out the ends to keep them from looking thin. Comments?
Big George
Hi George,
Hello from one of the Old Farts club to another! (But we REALLY should stop that talk now, shouldn't we, as we are only as old as we feel, lol!)
The hair is looking GREAT, thick and full with lots of shine, an man oh man, it sure grows fast. What a blessing to have perfectly straight hair as you do, it is the easiest to grow super long and is the fastest growing. The tail is awesome, I assume you have NO difficulty getting everything, including the bangs, in the tail. You seriously should consider waist length or longer, perhaps you could re-evaluate your length when you reach your next goal of mid-back.
Keep it growing,
David
Does that mean I have to stop calling you POPS also?
Thanks, appreciate the comments. I think I have come to look at it as a "work in progress" instead of a fixed goal!
HA!!! I guess I am your elder by a FEW months, so I GUESS you have my permission, lol! BUT I'm not calling you SON, no way, hehehe!!!
Wow, it's been a while since I've seen an update from you, and it has definitely gotten noticeably longer. Laissez les bon ton roulette, and keep it growing :-)
Thank you, cher, and may you pass a good time also!
My goodness but your hair is thick! Those racing stripes look awesome in the ponytail. With your thickness I would think you would have very minimal taper should you try for longer lengths, say waist or even belt-length. Go for it!
Thanks! One reason my hair looks so thick (especially from the back) is that I have a big head (at least literally, I'll leave the figurative aspects up to others).
Great work Big George, all is well, the length and condition are excellent!!
Thanks. I'll have to work on my wild man look!
I know what you mean about having to discard so many pictures until you get a decent one. I seem to on average take about 20 pictures for every one picture I am not too embarrassed to post here lol
You are making terrific progress George, the hair looks great. I don't think you need to trim it yet I think the ends look fine as they are. You will be able to keep more hair in the tail that way too if you don't cut any.
I also am about where I imagined I wanted to be when I started out growing but now it seems easier to just let it keep growing.
Thanks. Maybe I'll wait a while for the trim. And I am in the "just letting it grow" stage.
Appreciate the comments.
Just this morning it occurred to me that it's been awhile since Big George posted an update, and here it is!
It's looking really good George, and I think you can forget any trims. It looks great from the back, a nice fanned out shape. It look very natural on you.
Take care, Keep on growin'
Bruce
Yea, I like to let the anticipation build!!! I agree; will hold off on trims for now.
Thanks for the comments.
Looking great George!
I suppose a trim would make the ends look more blunt. I personally wouldn't trim it but it is entirely up to you, Whatever makes you happy.
Consensus is to wait on the trim; will give it a while.
Thanks.
Hi Big George, your hair is looking great and growing fast. I would say to hold off on a trim for maybe 4 months. Give your hair a chance to gain some more length. You want it long enough to all fit in a ponytail after the trim.
Absalom
Thanks Scott, that is probably what I will do.
Coming along very nicely there Big George!

Thanks, Oren. Had any casting calls yet? You would be a natural for General Custer. Maybe a different ending, though . . . . . . .
I appreciate your comments.
You're welcome!
No casting calls...yet... ;)

Boy, are you ever lucky. Only 413 photos to get a passable one? Takes over 1,000 for me!
Your long hair is doing great and looks fantastic for 16 months. Just hang in there as you are nearing the end of a very long journey which I am quite sure you will be happily rewarded with in the end.
Best of luck to you.
Yea, I had to go and buy a bigger memory card!
Yes it has been a long journey, some times seeming much longer than others. Thanks for the support; I'm looking forward to the next several months!
Looks great George, Over 400 deleted pics and no wasted film. Digital photography is a great invention. I have deleted most of mine.. :)
Thanks, Chris. Yea, this electronic stuff is great. If I could just get it to cross over and get the mute button to work on the kids . . . . . . . .
Appreciate the support.
Your hair looks great! It's nice and straight and easy to grow, and that's awesome progress for 16 months!!

Thanks for the comments. I am pretty pleased with my length for 16 months; I started with pretty short hair.
Hi Big George, "those racing stripes" look the dogs bollocks, as we say in London. Cant wait till i can have mine looking as good, all the best Jonny H uk
Had to break out the old "English-to-American" dictionary for this one; it's amazing how you Brits really murder the English language! Had me wondering there for a minute when I looked up "bollocks" first LOL
Thanks for the compliment now that I know what it means!
Man! Your hair grows fast and it's thick so mid back shouldn't be a problem. You've a;so got a gray streak like I do, I like mine I get more comments from women about it.
Kevin
Thanks for the comments. I think mid back should be OK; just have to wait & see.
You have come a long way in 16 months and your hair is looking great.
Personally I like the "Racing Stripes"....I've got 'em and I don't have teenagers ! (a government job has the same effect! HA!)
Thanks for Sharing
Thanks, Walter. Personally I call it the "distinguished" look!
