Man, my grandparents are so annoying (specifically grandfather) about my hair. He's said it looks scary and that I'll go bald soon if I don't cut it...etc. I've told him everything and how I feel about the hair in a nice way without flipping out. Anybody else experience this?
My son deals with this with my Dad sometimes. He just says,"since my mom wore the boots (retired Army) I can wear my hair any way I like; After all this is America."
I like to tell them "Gee I'm sorry you don't like the way God designed me. As for me I'm perfectly happy with his decision.
OK just for clarification Heres what I look like after almost three years of letting my hair grow. No baldness in sight after 54 years. Everyone is individual! I think your grandparents might just be jealous! peace jonalbear and by the way keep in growing!

Yeah, my grandpa joked about my hair all the time. He did it out of jealousy because he has a huge bald spot. He tried a wig, but it kept falling off. I didn't really find it offensive though because his jokes are funny and he never intended to offend me. Hope your's aren't too annoying.

I know my mother in law (73) doesn't like long hair but never would say anything to me (52) about it. She is however quite vocal when my nephew's hair gets even a little long. I think its' the generation that they grew up in. It just wasn't done before the 1960's

You have to learn when to pick your battles with family. I knew, from the day I started growing mine, that my Mom's Dad would never be ok with it, so I just decided at the start that I was going to simply ignore him whenever he said anything negative about it. He eventually caught on to the fact that I didn't give a damn about his opinion, and he stopped pestering me. Every time he said anything, I just grinned and said nothing in response.
My dad hates it and my classmates hae it I don't know about my grampa but my grandma loves it...
People (usually older ones) have had it drilled into their minds about shorts hair, nice appearance and good manners etc. Complete social zombies, so don't listen to them :P
Luckily it never happened to me thank goodness. As for him? Best thing to do is ignor and don't try and defend yourself as that will only add more fuel to his "scary" ideas.
My grandparents were like that when I got my eyebrow pierced. They will get over it eventually.

I agree with Justin best thing to do is just change the subject and downplay it. Grandparents are a tricky thing to deal with the more you try and argue the worse it gets. They may never like it but in time they'll get used to it and you'll get used to the comments.
