All right, all y'all have been wonderful giving me support recently. But I came here today for some advice. In a week, I will be going to my university's Spring Ball which is going to be semi-formal (as in dresses on girls, jackets and ties on guys). I was wondering what to do with my hair for the event. (Un)Fortunately, I have come to the stage where hair becomes a serious question.
My hair in back is long enough to make a 3-4 inch ponytail but the hair from the front is not quite long enough to make it into the ponytail. My hair is straight and is actually rather stubborn when it comes to staying in a specific style (one reason for having long hair is having gravity and physical restraint on my side). Should I just gel my hair back or try some sort of physical hair restraint like a tail or beg a friend to try something more fancy. I have posted some pictures of my hair along the way that you could use for reference (and my avatar which should be up as well). I guess I do not want anything too shocking yet but what is the expectation of hair for a semi-long-haired man and what is possible and plausible on me? Thanks.
You could try putting it in a tail so far as it will go then brush the rest back as if it able to reach the tail and use hair spray to hold it it in place.
That technique worked for me day in day out in business. As a 55 year old company director in the public eye, the tail is not a problem at all - untidy hair very much is.
Hi! When I go to formal occassions, I usually gel my hair and put in a tail. If I really want it to stay in place, I also lightly hairspray the front and top. Not a hair moves and I usually dance alot at these occassions.

P.S. Make sure you really wash it the next day before trying to comb or do anything with it.
