I've been wondering if he's alright. He usually posts daily but lately he hasn't been around. Anyone heard from him?

You are very observant! I have also noticed that Jacob has not posted in a few days, but I know he is studying math in school. It is entirely possible that he is involved in final exams or something to that effect. Or, it may be something much more pleasant like him taking a vacation, who knows, he could be on a warm tropical island right now, soaking up the sun!

I highly doubt he's on vacation; more likely he's down to the last week or next to the last week of the semester with finals hanging over his head like the sword of Damocles. Anyone who can be a math major deserves our pardon for less-prolific posting at times! I admire him for it; I'm glad he's the mathematician so I won't have to be...
My sister is finishing the teaching portion of her degree (she finished her math BA last year). She wants to teach middle school/junior high. I'm trying to figure out if she's crazy, or a saint. ;-)

I agree we can cut all our students a little slack for the next two or three weeks and wish them luck.

hehe,I've been missed already!!that;s so sweet of you guys.well,the reason I haven't been around lately is cause I have no internet connection at home.I've decided to put my college education on hold indefinetely,for a variety of reasons (depression,burnout,mentally spent,homesickness etc).I gave 3 years of my life to math,I'm surprised I lasted as long as I did with 0 social life and studying on my own (most college students study in groups).
My family lives in Greece and I will be visiting them next month,take some time off to think about what I wanna do with my life.my life is pretty much in a state of flux right now,but the hair REMAINS!!*grin*
this brings up the topic of my moderation-hood.Since I'm not gonna be able to check this wonderful board regularly,I'm gonna have to step down from the crew.I'm sure there are a handful of regulars here that can deservingly take my place and be able to offer more help than I can right now.It sure was a blast,albeit it was short moderation-hood lol.I was on a natural high when I got that invitation to join the crew,dare I say it was the highest honor I've received my entire life lol.thanks guys!!*sniff*
Hey, we allow sabbaticals of a month or so. Hell, some us take vacations that long. Unless you don't think you'll be back even after a month or two, hold the resignation man!
One reason we have several members on the crew is so we won't feel glued to this place. We all have other lives. Sometimes we go off and live them.

You HAVE been missed, Jacob, you can see how well liked you are on the hyperboard when Chris asked about you after you hadn't posted for a few days. But PLEASE hold off on the resignation for now and enjoy your trip to visit your family, after all, family comes first! Listen to Bill, he ALWAYS gives good advice, I fully concur with what he told you!
