Hey man, Im glad you're alive! :-) Im sorry to hear that you are having a hard time coping with college. Don't feel down man,Like David and Bill suggested all you need right now is a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG vacation. Just take a deep breath and relax! Get on that plane and head to Greece. Im sure you will find peace of mind once there with your family. Also, I sincerely hope you don't resign from the moderation crew. You are an outstanding fella and are most welcomed here! I suggest you apply the "2 week rule" to your decision.lol..J/K..But seriously, Think about it before you act on it. Well, Take care Jacob.
All the best and lots of TALI KIHI! ;-) (Hows my greek?)...
You will be here (above)!
I think it's smart of you to know when to say when and not push things too far. There is certainly nothing wrong with taking a break from things. And this - study groups have proved to always be a huge waste of time for me, so don't think you've missed out on much. I absolutely refuse to participate in them.
But, I hope you do finish your degree whether here in the US or in Greece and encourage you when you've sorted things out to re-pursue it. While a degree won't guarantee much of anything, it will get you in the door in many employment situations and helps out for advancement potential. While in some professions it is possible to work your way up like in banking, most are not this way.
AND, I wish I were going to Greece too!!! Well, be sure to drink some ouzo for me - "hou-paa"!!! And glad to hear the hair remains - it'd be a damn shame to see that head of hair of yours cut! May everything start coming up roses for you and have a safe journey there.
There is no use for you to resign from moderation so quickly as some others have said. Everyone needs a vacation sometimes. Give it a little while, and you might find yourself back ready to jump in. They have the internet in Greece too you know.
hehe..I'm sure you are jealous that I'm going to Greece!!*evil grin*
yeap.it was getting so bad that I had to resort to cheating to complete assignments.you know, mathematical proofs are a beast in their own right-each proof requires tricks and ingenuity-something that a lot of times I lack.I know my classmates were cheating too,but that doesn't mean it's ok to cheat *grin*.
really?how so?I was under the impression that they are a double-edged sword:if you rely too much on them, then you will not learn much, but if you do a bit of self-studying on the side then they can be of benefit.
yeap.you are right!!time for me to recharge those batteries, lol!!
come to think of it..I don't think I've ever got drunk on ouzo..I've tried it once or twice and didn't like the taste of it!!but I sure will drink some for ya!!(have you ever tried it?)
yeap.I might be burnt-out but I'm still a SANE person!!my hair means so much to me now...there's no way I'm getting rid of it!!
I'm curious to see how all my relatives will react to my long hair.they've never seen me with long hair!!!I was talking to my niece on the phone a few days ago,and she said "I don't like your long hair, cut it!!".and I was like "you haven't even seen it yet, lol!!".Hehe,as much as I love her,I'm keeping the hair no matter what, lol!!I'm guessing my sister will react negatively towards it as well.I know my father will be cool about it.
thanks!!^_^
I will take Bill's advice and not resign!!after all,Bill seldom(if EVER) gives bad advice!!*grin*
thanks so much,I hope you are having a good semester and your father is feeling better!!take care
-Jacob
PS.On a random,offtopic note:what does your username mean?^_^
Well, I'll get there one day, maybe later than sooner, but one day.
Be careful with that cheating; if you ever were caught you could be expelled. Just because everbody else is doing it...(you know the rest!)
Any study group I've been in just always seems like everyone else is so lost and behind in readings and such that I always just would sit there and have to explain stuff to others when I could have been studying efficiently on my own. Maybe it is different with math. All I ever had to have was Calculus I, and I never did a study group in that, perhaps it would have helped.
I think I tried ouzo a long time ago and it seems like it had a strange taste. Probably after all the other stuff I had had already, I didn't really know the difference though. Those were the days. If I did much of that now, I'd be useless for two days recovering!
I imagine your relatives will warm up to your hair. Remember, very important, don't act like YOU think it is wrong since it isn't, plus, especially with family, it is as if they can "smell" fear and capitalize on it and then assert pressure. Plus, lots of ancient Greeks had long hair too. Your embracing your rich culture!
Bragi, in the Norse pantheon of gods, was the god of poetry and eloquence who had runes carved on his tongue. Also he was said to be well-bearded. I'm certainly no poet and eloquent only by dumb luck sometimes, but it's a cool name to me. His origin is thought to have been in an actual 9th or 10th century Norseman-skald who was deified after his death when he entered into the sagas of the Northland.
Chris
I sure hope he dont resign from the mod crew either Id be somewhat disappointed if he did ...Lol so funny Chris two week rule before he actually does Resign :-)
Axel
Axel, Has anyone ever told you that you are scary!?
Please, Don't ever scare me like that again. I nearly had a heart attack! HA! Just messin' with ya. ;-)
No Worries Cheeky Git lol
hey Chris,
thanks for the kind words of support!!it means a lot to me,since my relatives here do pressure me to always try to excel in college,it frustrates me sometimes. But like you said,I'm goin to Greece to visit family, relax, take a breather, and think about things.at this day and age, life is so fast paced that we don't even have time to stop and think.again, thanks so much for the support brother!!hehe..
PS. it's "kali tihi".you almost got it right! :))
