I currently wash my hair twice a week with shampoo followed by conditioner. Is twice a week enough for someone with my length and type of hair? Any suggestions
2 to 3 times aweek is probably sufficient. You have nice hair by the way, peace, jonalbear
You're going to get quite a wide range of answers on this one, --- especially when you think of the fact that you used the word, "should"...
Some folks here wash their manes every day (see EdG's article in the links page), while other guys believe in water-washing only (see Bill Choisser's "FAQ: On Being A Longhair", --- also in the Links section).
As for myself, I wash my hair about as often as you do: twice a week is my usual max., with occasionally trying to stretch it out to a full week between shampooings (although I usually only make it to about 5 days). The longer my hair has gotten, the more I believe in using more conditioner than shamoo, --- and in fact, will occasionally do "conditioner-only" washings. The advantages of shampooing LESS frequently is that it gives your hair a chance to not be stripped of Mother Nature's natural oils that come from your scalp (especially if you do what I do, which is brushing my hair between shampooings). But, then again, guys like EdG say that his hair is way too oily to not shampoo every day.... So really, it's all individual, and will be something in the long run that you'll have to find out yourself what works best for you!

I agree with Ken you have to sort of work it out based on your hair. If you wash more often condition like crazy or if it's dry and getting frizzy maybe do a few condition only routines between washings. Best check out the links section lots of good advice there.
Good luck and keep us posted

Hi! Great hair Tom. My hair is a little longer than yours and I wash it every other day because I do yoga and the room gets hot and I sweat. Maybe if your not as active you could get away with every three or four days. How long are you going?
Good Luck,
Del
I would guess your hair is about the same as mine and in length too. I wash mine more then you do but I also put some smoothing cream in it after each time I wash it. I think your hair looks great but I can tell you what I use if you want, I can't remember the exact name off the top of my head but if so let me know. Take care
thank you
From the look of that picture, it ain't broke, so don't fix it.
FWIW, If you aren't itchy, smelly, or greasy I don't believe there is any reason to shampoo. A few lucky souls can manage to water rinse only without having nasty hair or a bad scalp.
Hi Tom, I would say wash no more than twice a week at your current length, unless your hair is very greasy. As your hair gets longer you will probably want to gradually increase the interval between washings. It takes a longer time for the natural oils to reach the ends of your hair and washing strips them away.
If your hair is somewhat dry, you might try washing with shampoo once a week and plain water in between.
Some people here have hair that is so dry that they use no shampoo at all but warm water only. I must use this routine on my beard. My beard hair is so dry that any kind of soap would ruin it.
A lot of this is just trial an error to find out what works best for you.
