I noticed my first split-ends today. In six years of growing my hair, this is the first time I've ever seen one...
I guess I cut away around 5-10 of those, so it wasn't bad.
Hi Stefan,
It's great to have you back on the hyperboard, I was beginning to wonder where you were, hope things are OK with you. If you have only just noticed your first split ends in nearly 6 years, that means that your hair is in VERY good condition indeed, and also means that you have looked after it very well. I remember in your last update that you were concerned abou reaching terminal length, hopefully those days are behind you now and you can get a spurt of renewed growth.
All the best,
David
Hey David! It's always nice to know people are thinking of you! I've been extremely busy lately, and there's been some personal turmult so I haven't really had the time, nor felt like posting a lot.
It still doesn't feel as if my hair is getting longer, but I guess there's not much to do about that... It barely passes my shoulders most of the time when dry...
Only 5 - 10 split hairs after 6 years of growth is DEFINITELY not bad at all, --- amazingly good, in fact!
Try applying some Kukui nut oil onto the ends. It has made a difference in the # of splits I find on my own head, so maybe it can help your hair, too.
All the best to you!

True, I've seen damage in other forms though. But it's never excessive.
I have no idea where to find all these exotic oils you guys mention :P
Thanks!
You got great hair if its been 6 years without trim and only have splits now. Some people on this board has split end as early as 6 months! I am 1.5 years and counting, no trims and no splits... so far.
It hasn't been six years without trims, I grew for around three years first, without anything. Then I cut it off. Then I regrew it, with infrequent trims (1-2 times a year, very little cut off). But still, I had thought to see them before. It was an a-ha experience :)
It's inevitable... eventually we all get them no matter how well we take care of our hair. I went nearly two years without a trim. One reason I got a trim was because I saw a few split ends, but the hair dresser found quite a few more, plus quite a few hairs that were on the verge of splitting. It can't hurt to get a half inch or an inch of hair trimmed every 6 to 12 months as a preventative measure. That's what I'm thinking of doing now.
My blog, with more pics and weird stuff
lol,you are real lucky!!I've been growing mine for less than 2 years and I already have a lot of splits!!
