Hey guys . . .
By the way, I've seen hair wrappings on people, and have been on the lookout for a place to get it done, or buy one of those clip in kinds, since I work in a corporte office.
I can't seem to find any here in DC, at least not yet. Anybody got any ideas?
Thanks.

If you are talking about extensions, you should have no problem finding a salon that does them. Have you tried calling some salons and asking - many do not advertise this service.
Extensions are a wonderful method of transitioning from that intermediate stage, but can damage your hair if not applied or removed either (for re-app - you need them re-done every 3 months - or final removal) with care. And they can cost as much as $500.00 for a full head app of European Human hair.
Extensions are great vehicles for transitioning short to long, but be prepared for the cost and maintenance.
Tigg was not talking about extensions (at least I don't think so). Hair wraps are very common here in Austin. You can usually find someone to do them on the drag or on 6th Street, especially during festivals. Basically, all that is done is that a small lock of hair is gathered, usually from somewhere behind the ear where it is out of the way. Then, colorful strings are tied around the hair in half-hitches. Ornaments can be added. There are several links on the web for these ornaments. The going rate here is about $1 per inch, which is one reason I have not gotten one. However, one guy told me he'd put one in for free just to play with my hair. Unfortunately he was too busy at the time.
One of these days I will make a hair wrap using my own hair. I think that would look way cool. I've got enough hair saved up, I just need the time and the assistant.
I know it seems like an oxymoron, but there is a site that sells these things. Just follow the link.
I MAKE REMOVEABLE HAIR WRAPS.PLEASE MAIL ME BACK.I WOULD LOVE TO TALK TO YOU.
Exactly, I meant the hair wrapped in a strand(s) of floss. I looked through the site you offered Victor, but I was looking for something a little more custom as far as colors and stuff. I've been calling around to different hair salons, and nobody has a resource here in DC.
I love the look because it's very tribal/earthy, which fits my style really well, (outside of "my so-called life as a suit") :0)
In case nobody's told you lately, Victor, it's great having you here, you're an amazing resource of info and resources, and your rah-rahing for those of us who're going long is greatly appreciated!!!
Thanks, again,

When I was at the Maryland Renaissance Festival on Sunday, somebody was selling hair wrappings. I didn't stop to inquire about details. Probably should have. You might want to check it out. Not far from D.C. either.
I can't get out there before it closes, but do you think there's a number for the Renfest that I could call that would have the vendor's info?
They have a web site with limited vendor info: renaissance-faire.com/Renfaires/Maryland-Renaissance-Festival.htm
The telephone number they give, assuming general information, is 800-296-7304.
