I was looking on the internet about dreadlocks and they look pretty cool. They take a LONG time to get right and alot of patience. Probably even more so than just growing your hair!
Gotta give alot of respect to people doing it because it must be tough.
I would like to see what i would look like with them...but wouldnt want to wait a year :P oh well :D
What do you all think about them? Ever considered getting them done?
I have, and I still am. If my hair doesn't grow to at least mid-back (waist-length or butt-length is my goal), then I might go for dreads. My hair dreads on its own quite quickly if I don't comb it, anyway, so it shouldn't be too hard. But I'm not rushing to get dreads; I know how hard it is to get rid of them without shaving your head if you get tired of them, and I'd hate to shave my head.
By the way, you don't need to wait a year to see what you look like with dreads. You can go to a salon and ask for "temporary dreadlocks" or something like that. They put your hair into something like loose dreads, which can be removed if you don't like them after a few days. You should try those out. Somebody on the hyperboard got them once.
Peace
I know about two guys around with dreds, they're quite c00l and in rasta style. But I have no idea what do they do when their hair grows.
An average human has 20 meters(!) of hair grown every day (6.666 feet), that's really a lot. (I have seen it on Jehova's Witnesses' site, they don't lie :) So, what a rasta man should do, when his hair grows and the dreds gets a distance from scalp?
What do you mean by An average human has 20 meters of hair grown every day.
I think it means that a growth of all your hair per one day is 20 meters in total. The hair is the most quickly growing tissue on the body.
Dear Mr. DaPs,
Boy-o-boy, "tough" sure is the word, dude.
Here's a picture of me in my finest Goth attire.
Do I look sullen enough? It's in the White Plains
Rural Cemetery, whose front gates, when closed,
spell out "Dust to Dust", a delight to all good little
visitting Death Rockers.
It was back in 1991. I was dating a lttle Gothette, fourteen
years my junior. And, yes, that's Swamp Thing hurtling towards
me as I contemplate my fate. Reaching to my shoulders, they
were VERY high maintenance. I didn't actually have a full
head of dreads, though. They were more interspersed with
my "regular" white boy hair, kinda like Rob Zombie's former
hairstyle (he's got shoulder length tresses anew nowadays) . . .

Kool, the way you had them is kind of like jack sparrow in pirates of the caribbean, but shorter :P
I like dreadlocks i think they look kool. Especially with things on them like lucky charms etc.
I wouldn't ever to do though. i'm too much of a pretty boy :P
Hi DaPs,
My only experience was when my nephew (a budding longhair) got them and they were cool at first then he grew to hate them. To make matters worse well you know how people go on about longhair and employment issues (cut that hair!!) it gets worse with dreads. Attitudes in most of the US except in the more liberal areas are not good towards dreads. Don't know if you would have that problem in the UK, don't recall seeing any people with dreads the few times I was there.

Ive been thinking about dreds too. Where I live (England)there are few people with dreds that i know. They seem to get on ok but most of the guys with dreds are between the ages of 15-21 so most of them dont have jobs anyway. There is a teacher with dreds at my college, I think hes a rasta though
