when growing out your hair.. is it ok to use a bit of oil on your hair?
it becomes dry if you dont so yea
Oil is very good for your hair, without it, it will become dry and damaged, there are several ways to keep oil ing your hair, adding it yourself, or not shampooing as much etc.
There are some very beneficial oils that can do wonders for your hair. Jojoba, Almond oil, Kukui nut oil, or even Olive oil can all help out in a variety of ways. My personal preference is to use Kukui nut oil; but it is harder to find than other oils. I massage just a coin-size amount into the ends and lower half of my mane, prefering to do this when my hair is still damp afte shampooing & conditioning, --- but really, you can also apply it when the hair is dry just as well.
I've noticed a big difference since I've been using beneficial oil, especially in the lessening of split ends. I also have been trying to shampoo my hair less freequently than I used to do, which gives my scalp's natural oils time to reach the ends as well, by brushing my hair when dry. Brushing also helps stimulate the scalp, bringing blood up to the hair roots to nourish (as well as feels GREAT)!
But, everyone is different. If you go to the links page, for example, you can read what EdG wrote, --- who shampoos every day (and never uses conditioner, due to his hair being naturally very oily). In total contrast, Bill Choisser writes in his "FAQ: On Being A Longhair" how to water-wash only. So, everybody is indeed VERY different!
