I've started finger combing my hair exclusively. I must say, I should have done it from day one!
I think anyone who has wavy hair should finger comb because combs/brushes 'take the life out of' the hair.
This is my Ambercrombie and Fitch pose, lol
Yeah, I have patches of nasty back hair, why do you think I'm growing my hair long? LOL
yea when i had long hair i finger combed it, its way better!
So glad that you posted these photos of such exceptional long hair that looks sensational! I too finger-comb ALWAYS and have been for at least well over a year. Had it not been for EdG I never would have known about this, and that is just what he does as well.
Isn't it great. And it looks as if it were combed!
Now others can see with their own eyes the results of finger-combing exclusively.
Hey ATP, this photo tells all, you have fantastic hair. Finger combing has worked very well for you.
Also, your hair is thick right to the ends. Waist length should be easily achievable for you, if you should choose to grow it that long.

Well, that was my initial goal until I trimmed it in Jan. 06. LOL
I will play it by ear, or should I say, month :)
That is awesome, Mr. ATP,
When do we get a schedule of yr next stand-up gig?
But, really, you've got great results with the finger combing method. May I suggest ALSO the tried and true method of boar's bristles brushes? We've all used plastic toothed comb brushes but personally I've recently invested in a boar's bristles brush and, not being too pricey, it's given pretty good results without the wear and tear that artificial manmade combs and brushes tend to render. Enough said.

Hey ATP,
Always great to see your update pics, --- your hair looks sensational, as always!
I, too, have been recently finger-combing more and more (especially when my hair is still damp). For me, it helps keep my natural waves better.
I still do my ritual of dry-brushing my hair, though, --- only now I have a wooden-bristle brush. I just LOVE it!!! Anyway, we each find our way eventually to what works best for us, individually. But, sharing your experience and advise like this helps us all, because it gives us many options to choose from, --- and even more importantly, your advise is based on LONG HAIR EXPERIENCE!
Anyway, thanks for posting & paying us a visit!

Looking good! I stll use a wide tooth comb, but lately have been fingercombing first before i do this. Seems to give good results.

Hi ATP,
Your hair looks absolutely sensational, straight, thick and healthy with lots of shine and the colour is wonderful. The fact that your hair looks so good right to the tips means you should be able to grow your hair a LOT longer, which I hope you do. (any goal length in mind?) Your hair is really a testimony to the benefits of finger-combing! I have started finger combing more and more myself recently. Although I cannot claim to have stopped using a brush or comb entirely, their use is diminishing as my hair gets longer, and I hope that I can totally stop using them with more length.
Keep it growing,
David
I'm sure finger combing can be great for some people, but doesn't work for me =S The times i finger comb only my hair keeps tangles that fingers can't reach. I have too much hair to use my fingers only I guess. I need an instrument to detangle: as far as combs go, they are really hard!
So I'm most likely keeping with my hair brush, that is really good with my hair and really hair friendly... =)
Nice pics btw!
As usual, your hair looks great. Love the "Abercrombie" pose, and certainly nothing wrong with some back hair here and there!
Keep the poems flowin!

Hey Alex, I remember when you got a serious trim last year (to about the length my hair is now). It looked great then, and I can see it's grown quite a bit since then. Looks good longer, like you have it now. Have you decided what length you'd like to have?
I agree on finger combing for wavy hair. If I comb or brush my hair - damp or totally dry - the waviness gone, and I really like my hair wavy. The only time I comb it (with a huge detangling comb) is before I wash it - to prevent the tangles from accumulating - and whenever I have to tie back my hair (looks neater). When I just let my hair air dry and finger comb it, I love the look. Some days it looks kind of messy, but then people say I look like a rock star!
BTW, nice A&F pose! Don't worry about the hairy back. I've got that too. The more hair, the better! ;)
My blog, with more pics and weird stuff
Hi! Your hair is a great length and looks fantastic. Mine is a little longer and I need to do more than just finger comb. Using a regular comb doesn't seem to take the wave out of my hair, but using jojaba oil does take the wave out so I don't use it very often. How long are you going?
