Ok, this may seem like a dumb question, but I've been lurking these boards for a while now and mostly everyone seems friendly here, so I don't think anyone will ridicule my qeustion :)
I'm not entirely sure of the last day exactly that my hair was cut, but I do know that it was in June 2006. Basically, since the beginning of January I have always been wearing a hat to keep it out of my eyes. A ponytail won't work since my hair really isn't long enough. My mother doesn't approve of my long hair at all but my dad likes it, he used to have long hair back in the 60's/70's.
Is there a certain product to use or a certain way to comb your hair to make it stay out of your eyes the rest of the day?
I know I don't have a picture and will try to get one soon, but I'd say my bangs can reach my upper lip when combed out.
Thanks for reading!
I have the same problem, I used to wear a wooly hat, now it's getting rather hot that is a problem..
I think you will have to either gel or just bear it...

You could get a (I think they're called) sweatband, basically a male headband. Bobby pins work but they're not exactly the most comfortable thing socially.
Techniques are as divers as hairstyles. Some things I have used.Skull caps, hats, head bands, gel, bobby pins, prayer, olive oil (used like gel). Hope this helps.
And btw IMHO the only dumb question is the one not asked. And again welcome.
Walking into the wind will work, but you may not always want to walk in that direction. :-)
I've always preferred to wear a bandanna in a band, like you can see in my avatar pic. I personally liked the look enough that I still prefer it to a pony tie, though my hair is now long enough to tail it.
A bandanna will make your head hotter, but not nearly as much so as a hat will. It's surprising that it holds in heat, but it does. It insulates your forehead and it holds your hair down against your head, trapping pockets of insulating air.
No matter what you do, you'll probably have to comb or straighten it a few times a day. Hairs work loose. Hairs get blown loose.

There is no such ting as a dumb questions, only dumb answers...=)
a.
I meant to add that on Bill's website is a lot of info all about bandanas (as well as plenty of other helpful things).
As for me, I remember when my hair first starting falling into my eyes a lot as i was growing it out. It was a "mixed blessing": part of me LOVED it, because it meant my hair indeed was getting looooonger; but the other part of me was annoyed at it falling at the worst times (like at work). Half-tails are another way of dealing with the problem (when you tie up the bangs only), --- it may look or feel a little funny, at first; but, it WORKS! Other than that... gel, hat. hair spray, --- whatever it takes to get it long enough to tie it all back into that eventual ponytail.

Welcome to the board. Check out the hair accessories section of your local drug store/department store. There are some small, curved hair clips made by Goody that come in dark, matte colors and they're very discreet. Go to goody.com, click Accessories --> Barrettes --> Sport, and they're the Soft Touch Contours. (The image on the far right shows the darker colors.)
Basically, you bend them one way and they snap open, then bend them the other way and they snap closed. I used to hide one behind each ear and it kept the hair out of my eyes very well, and no one ever noticed them.
Best of luck!

Hi! I think the best thing to use is hairspray. Part your hair on the side or middle and comb it the way you want it to stay and put alittle hairspray on it. Don't try to comb it after the hairspray is on or you might damage your hair. Hope this helps.

Hi Steve,
The awkward stage is like a form of hazeing you have to go through two years of torture before your admitted to the club. Hats Bandanas, gels, hairspray, stocking caps (not practical in summer althoug I see them being worn). Hair spray makes your hair feel like a toupee and drys it out (it looks weird too), gels are messy and the hair can still fall in your face. I'm remembering my awkward stage and I tried the hairspray thing it kept the hair out of my face and I was fine as long as there wasn't a big wind. If it looked weird or not I didn't care.
As has already been suggested go to Bills site and try different things. Whatever you do don't cut it you got this far you can make it all the way.
Good luck hope you find a solution
Kevin
Here's my answer.
Gel. Pretty much the best answer except that it does still flop around a bit and it is a little messy to put in....I've always hated gooey things on my hands.
Another tip. While you hair is still wet or damp, push it back and plop a hat on for a little while so that the hair dries in a stuck-back position. Adjust for hat-hair.
Like my longhaired brethren said, headbands, bandannas, discreet clips, etc.
But most of all, get used to seeing your hair in your field of vision. It will lurk there often and honestly, you learn to ignore and accept. It may seem to be in front of your eyes but when you look in the mirror, it is not actually in front of your eyes; hair will look good even if it is on the fringes of your vision. Just like one has to get used to seeing glasses on their face, get used to seeing some hair now and then.
This is what I used when I was going through my akward stage. Though I hated the gel and just used the hair clips when it got long enough.
Shades. Works for me. May as well keep both hair and UV out of your eyes. See link below:
I prefer Wayfarers but this will give you the idea.
Ok, thanks a lot for the responses guys. I appreciate it.
Is there any damage to wearing a hat for a long amount of time? Like I said, I've been wearing a hat since January basically, on and off but mostly I wear one all day.
