I even have an excuse for a back pic here!
It will be great to see it on the streets again!
Bill
Yeah...another triumph of special interest groups (Market Street Railway in this case) going over the head of middle managers playing barricade. Doesn't hurt that Muni is in desperate need of some positive PR to counter the T-line debacle (which we all predicted).
The plan is for it to go out during fair weather on weekends, starting tomorrow.
How extremely cool! On open-top trolly! If we tried that here in Tucson, the people would be crispy critters.
Lon
Great picture! Was that a candid picture by a rider or was that your camera?
Bruce
Taken by one of my trainers, specifically requested to include my hair. Random having more to do with image choice.
Yeah, man! How'd ya deal with that incessantly crying, whining, annoying infant at the back of the car with that evasive mom? Yeesh! Fuckin' "A", man!
What is the POINT of this post here, Quenyan, and why was it necessary to post it TWICE? Trolleypup is posting a pic of his hair on the job and YOU make this comment, what purpose does it serve on the hyperboard? Perhaps you think you are being funny, but frankly, I don't appreciate the humour here.
David
That's maybe beceause english isn't my native language but i didn't understand the "joke". anyway i'm agree with you... :/
i really dont want to be rude Quenyan but i think sometime you do some weird and pointless post, this is very disturbing beceause you usually post like a normal person and sometime you look like someon under acid ^^

or someone hacked his account in order to get him banned...
Once again, Angel, I apologise. I just entered a response to David, who posted his initial post to my offensive comment. He has always been supportive, fatherly, and welcoming in HIS postings. Kudos, Dave. I am, and have been, a commuter in Manhattan. The subways. I only "impressed" a comparative analogy to Trolleypup's lot as a (magnificently maned, might I say) municipal transport vehicle operator. Fine. It was out of line. I do, much to my wife's chagrin, and other people's, cuss sometimes, creatively or not. But cursing on acid? No. Not me. Ew.
I have recently been made short work of on this board or from this board and my feelings have been hurt. My comments will never appear here again unless they are related to our achievement of the magnificence that is the intention of this hyperboard. How's that?
Bowing out gracefully,
Quenyan
Or the language
I'll second that. Even those of us who are not as linguistically creative in our posts avoid foul language for the most part. This board isn't just for adults, and doesn't come with a warning stating as much.
Mouse
Our target audience is "longhaired men and men growing their hair out, who are age 13 or older", and language must be appropriate for that group. Others are welcome here, but they must realize the site is oriented towards that male group. This is not a secret; the General FAQ says:
Bill
well said
That's exactly what i think users want, actually i do ^^
I'll second that. A policy like that allows for us to be human without going overboard.

I am sorry that I offended you, David. Especially because you have always demonstrated a fatherly, supportive, welcoming demeanor to newbies on the board. And those of us making progress. Trolleypup, a Californian trolley operator, San Francisco, has made SUCH progress, the grandeur of which I can only HOPE to achieve, must put up with a lot of noise on his day-to-day. The board "burped", posting my post twice, not me. No offence was intended, Dave. Or Trolleypup, for that matter. Actually, what else have I uncovered here?
Apologetically AND inquisitively yours,
Quenyan
Hi Quenyan,
I accept your apology, Quenyan, and thanks for the kind words about myself as well. I think you have the capability to be a valued contributor to our community, but I would like to offer some advice as well. Some of your posts can be a bit hard to follow, I DO realize that you probably did have some kind words for Trolleypup in this post. However, the kind words you intended were buried in those other words that have the capability to offend some people who happen to read them. What if there were mothers who are raising young children of their own who might very well be the ones sitting on that bus who happen to read those words and take offense to them? Perhaps there are other members who prefer that the language be toned down a little, as at least one other member has suggested already. Again, I think you can contribute a lot to the hyperboard, and I hope you do so in the future, just be more careful in your choice of words.
My best to you,
David
Thank you for your understanding, David,
All right, thing is I lost my father last month. Things are difficult. Guys, I won't word my posts so "raw" anymore. And sorry to everyone else Iirked, too. I was irked by some insensitivity demonstrated towards me recently, too.
I am (that is, I AM) a positive force in the men's longhaired community. I shall resolve to be a better representative WITHIN our community and on the board. Once again, your words have always served as a nurturing source for our subscribers, David. I think I'm going to cry now. I kid you not. Talk to ya later.
Deeply touched,
Quenyan : Hi Quenyan,
Hi again, Quenyan,
Please accept my condolences in the loss of your dad, my heart goes out to you and your family in your time of need.
Take care,
David
Once again, David,
Your unwavering support, nurturance, and warmth to those of us who might be newbies as well as older, resolutely inveterate longhairs is always an attribute I look forward to reading and admire, no matter what our circumstances. Thank you. No excuses for anything else on my part. I won't let New Yorkese (if ya catch my drift) interfere with that dialog again. Thank you, David, and everyone else.
Best wishes always,
Quenyan +:-)}
I, too, am in the public transportation biz. I don't mind crying babies, cuz that's what they do, they can't help it. But a non-responsive Mom is another story. I turn around and say, with a smile, "Please stop pinching that baby!" That usually works.
BTW, If anyone uses that kind of language and the bus, I remind them that they're not in their own living room, but on a public bus. Soooo....Quenyan, you're on a public board, so lets watch the language. Thank ya!
Handbrake turn on a conversation!!!

My hair Journal (just updated !!!)
Looking good.Interesting vehicle.I wouldn't mind seeing a pic of it from the street.Obviously a trolley of some sort as there is no steering wheel.I hope to make it to SF some day.
I saw a pic in a restaurant a while back that was taken in the 1920's in Dallas at the state fair grounds. In that pic there was a dozen trolleys. The tracks are long gone :( Mass transit in Texas is a joke.
Keep it flowing'
Arrick
Trolleypup has what for many would be a dream job, to get to operate one of those things!
Bill
Thanks for the link Bill. It's interesting to see all the different trolleys and street cars.
Bruce
Wow!! That is one damn fine mane!!
That was one example of the exceptable use of a naughty word to convey meaning. :)
Kevin
And what an excuse it is. Wow..........such magnificent long hair! Great pic and I sure enjoy seeing the Street Car.
We have several here in Portland as well of the type that you are driving which cost nothing to ride within the city limits. Outside of the City we have more, but these are modern and hitch together. Nonetheless, a great way to travel, so nice and smooth on the rails at 55mph and best of all: NO Traffic "Grid-lock" situations ever.
Thanks for sharing this great photo with all of us. Your long hair is truly a great inspiration to us all.
Justin~
Portland is fabulous to fly into...fifty paces from the baggage carousel to MAX (light rail) (also 50 paces to the check in area)...and a quick easy ride to either the nearby cheap motels or downtown.
I was up there a couple weeks ago and managed to ride MAX and the Portland Streetcar, although not the replica vintage types. Some years back I rode the ?Willamette Shore Railway? down to Lake Oswego (that was an old streetcar with a generator, wasn't it?)...started from where the Portland Streetcar ends now.
Thanks!
Hey Trolleypup;
Great hair dude. That's incredible. I would guess you probably don't wear it down like that with the open car do you? - It would be blowing like 3 feet behind you!
Keep up the great work.
Tristan
You may become the first longhair in history to be ordered to cut at collar length because your mane almost completely obstructs drivers' viewing of your safety vest! [wink]
Bill
Hey Trolleypup, your hair looks lovely. It is so long and thick. (Yeah, I know, mine is maybe 2 inches longer, but you have twice as much hair volume as I do.) Do you normally tie it up when at work or wear it loose like in the photo?
Hope to see you at the next hair meet.
Absalom
Yes. I'm working on a series of images from Thursday, but I'm busily goofing off. I let it down specifically for a short series of hair pictures.
You too!
Amazing hair Trolleypup, just you be careful you don't get it caught!!
Yeah, under the wheels between them and the rails.
Bill
Perfect way to show off your hair against the brown uniform! I guess you don't get up enough speed to blow your hair forward like in a convertible.
You are a marvel, Robert. To think how impressed I was by the last trolley ride. Do you still get to use that corner switch pole thingy?
Elizabeth
No. Mostly it is pretty still behind the windshield. Windy as hell in the middle where the conductor stands, so my hair will be up all the time on that car.
Yep...that car isn't equipped with the radio control for the switches, so I'll have to throw them all manually.
