I have not posted or given any updates for a while, so here is a current pic. I shaved my beard and am working on a goatee right now. I haven't noticed much growth in my hair lately, but slowly and surely, right.
I was in the mall today and out of the three-four hundred guys I saw, there were only two other longhaired guys. It was a bit of a wakeup call, really, because I don't get any comments at work or elsewhere really, so I've gotten really used to being a longhair.

Also, I know what you mean. Longhairs are very hard to spot sometimes, amongst the plentiful amount of shorthairs. Even on my college campus, where long hair on guys is a bit more common than most places, it's still a rather rare sight...Although, last week I walked into the coffee shop on campus, and the room was filled with long-haired guys. Seriously, more than half of the guys in there, at that time, had shoulder length or longer hair. It was kind of strange to not look radically different than the other guys around me. It was like a rock concert got canceled, and everyone decided to just go get some coffee :-P
Yeah, that is weird. I guess it would be like hanging out a death metal convention or something. Thanks everybody for their comments.
PS. My hair gets tangled quite easily, so my wife has taken to combing my hair on a regular basis, otherwise I get too lazy and don't maintain it like I should.

Your hair is looking fabulous, straight and healthy, keep growing it for sure! Your goatee is looking good as well, nice and thick. I can't recall how long you have been growing your hair or how long you hope to grow it.
I noticed your observation about lack of long haired guys where you live. It's strange, I would have said the same thing in Halifax, Nova Scotia as recently as 6 months ago. However, I have been seeing more and more longhaired guys out and about lately, frequently 10 or more when I am walking in the mall, including those working in the stores themselves, (My local Wal-Mart appears very longhair friendly, with at least 2 or 3 working there, for example) I am the ONLY longhaired guy in my workplace, however, I would have thought a scientific lab would have more longhairs.

Thats a great hair and goatee combo there Vegas. We have a few longhairs around at the moment as rock is quite in vogue, but as sson as the trend changes most will cut it I imagine. As David said ADSA seems to be longhair friendly, its just a shame I don't agree with their business ethics!!
Vegas, You have a nice crop of hair on your head as well as as your chin and upper lip. Nice dark brown(chocolate)color. There are only two longhairs where I work with over 100 employees. The other guy is about my same age also. Mid 50s. They call us the old hippies. I call them the conformist clones!

I go back & forth between a full beard look and a goatee myself. Sometimes I even grow out my beard fairly long, to at least a "shaggy" look; but then when I wake up and look at this old goat in the mirror, that's when I decide to trim it back to a goatee for awhile (lol).... One of these days, I might even try to grow my beard out REALLY looooooooooong. I admire Oren, Victor and Bill here for their amazing beards; but I have not made it ever past the beard growth version of the "awkward stage", so we'll see....

Hey! I have to say you've got really cool hair actually, seems rather straight.
And about the lack of longhaired men, you should visit Kiruna, or any other city in sweden, almost everytime i go shopping i see at least one longhaired man if not more, i guess we're pretty open minded here and don't care too much about each others appearance.

Every time I go to the market or elsewhere I see at least one, usually 3 or 4 longhairs (at least longish). I couldn't say that 2 or 3 years ago. I guess (and hope) longhair is finally coming back. YAY!

Thanks for the update and it looks as if your hair is doing just great! (Actually it appears to be very similar to my own hair type.)
I also never really give my hair much thought during the day as I am so used to it. But, used to it or not I wouldn't want to be without it. No way!
