Hey guys.
I've dropped by this forum randomly for a while - since before I decided to grow out my hair. It helped me decide to do so since you guys were all supportive of each other.
Anyways I've never posted a pic but think I should now to see what you guys think.
I started growing it out since my last true hair cut last August. Since then I got it trimmed in the following November, and once again at the end of this April.
The April trimming was because I felt it was getting increasingly thick in the back of my head and not balanced with the rest of the heads hair lengths.
Is there anything I can do to subdue the thickness at the back of my head? I'm not sure if I want to try grease or pommade.
I shampoo + condition every day in the shower and then put some mousse in.
I use head+shouilders shampoo
Herbal essences Conditioner + mousse.
i think the hair is very healthy and has almost no split ends. A few ladies have mentioned that it looked better shorter, especially as it is flowing into a retro 70s mode (altho I've always been a fan of the times). While other have said it looks great now.
Opinions appreciated!

Hey there, Mike...
It looks like you've made some great progress so far. In my opinion, I wouldn't worry about the "thickness" in the back, as that will all even out as your hair continues to get longer. Your hair looks quite healthy and will continue to get better as the length increases. Keep it up! =)

Hi Mike,
Your hair is coming along very well indeed! You have straight hair with lots of shine and it is excellent condition, and you have come a LONG ways since last August. As your hair is in such great condition now, NO further trims are necessary from this point on, to make the journey to long hair go that much faster. I was wondering if you have a goal length in mind?
Keep it growing,
David
Hey bro, I'm in the same boat that you are in. I started growing out my hair around the same time you did. Your hair looks cool bro... I'm also going through the 70s thang.
I noticed your link was vt.edu. Are you at VT now? If so, how is everything coming along there?
-Robbie
I would definately stay away from trims, as your hair grows to the length you had it before the trim it may well do the same thing again. Just let it grow and do its own thing for a couple of years!
Anyway its looking in great condition and I would say it's very under control. Keep growing and enjoy your journey!!
thanks for all the encouraging words guys!
This board is great to dissuade people like me who are considering getting a hair cut! Thanks
In response to some of the questions asked in the replies:
I am at VT right now. Ever since classes kicked back in post 4/16 no one has had much work to do because of the options to just take our pre 4/16 grades or to just do whatever work we choose. Also, hardly anyone will be taking finals, which are underway now. And I hate to say this because I realize the gravity, first hand, of the situation but what else could a college town do when they are suddenly found with much less work than expected?? The answer, in a nutshell, is to get out and hang out with good company. Which i think is great because even if we're not doing work out here we're at least keeping the community going.
As to a target length: I'm not really sure. I always thought I'd stop when the front and sides all started getting to shoulder length. My mom is great at making me think it's a huge mistake to grow it out but that's what mothers are for!
I have a summer engineering internship over at Ford - which i'm thrilled about. It'll be my first chance to gage corporate America reaction to longer hair but I think they expect engineers to be on their own frequency!
Cheers to all!
