Okay, the general consensus on the board is to stay away from hair dyeing because it involves bleaching the hair, and that's bad.
But how about highlights? When I got my last haircut back in October, I had highlights added to break up the stark blackness of my hair. The stylist (who's also my neighbor and the only person in town I would let cut my hair) gave me some nice brown highlights. I got nothing but compliments from my now-lighter hair and didn't notice any problems with my hair or its growth as a result.
So are highlights a less-damaging option for people who want a little more (or different) color to their hair? I don't think I've ever heard about highlights being bad for your hair the way dyeing is. The only thing I didn't like was that it resulted in me spending about three hours at the salon that day, though it wasn't too bad since it's nothing but women who work there. :)
Hi, Michael24
Im am not quite sure if highlights are damaging. I suppose highlights and any other dyes are harmful for the hair. After all, They have harsh chemicals that can damage hair and hair texture. I would suggest growing your hair out as nature intended and accept that awesome natural black color you have :)
