My wife has this great comb that I'm displaying here. It's long, wide spaced teeth make it excellant for full, straight strokes and it detangles better than my fingers. I highly recommend this type of comb.
I used wide toothed combs for a while, but I've recently been converted to brushes. With a wide toothed comb, I first have to finger comb my hair completely, then carefully comb starting from near the ends and working up towards the scalp.
I tried one of those round brushes with fine, short bristles (NOT boar bristles). I was amazed at how easily my hair was detangled. It takes almost no effort to detangle with one of these brushes. And it detangles a lot more than a wide toothed comb does.
Here, I found a picture of a product similar to the brush I bought:
YES! Those are great especially for the guys that use the finger-combing technique.
Yes, this is the best comb for long hair. The teeth are widely spaced and long enough to reach through long thick hair. A regular short tooth comb only gets the surface.
That is the only type of comb I use, and the only type that I have been using for over 10 years. Over 10 years ago I found one of these on the lawn at a local park. I took it home, washed it, tried it on my hair, and fell in love with it. Shortly afterwards, I bought several of them, and the rest is history.
I highly recommend these for anyone with long hair.

I've got the same type too. Because my hair tangles very easily especially the longer it gets I first finger comb then use one of these. Haven't used a brush for some weeks now.

I, too, use an afro pick. Mine is just like yours but black in color. An afro pick is better than a traditional men's pocket comb for long hair because (1) it has less teeth, which means it allows snarls to slip loose more easily as you comb to detangle, and (2) the teeth are longer so they'll reach all the way through the mass of hair that long hair generally is.
With some of my jeans my afro pick's handle sticks out of the back pocket about an inch, while with other jeans the whole pick disappears into the pocket. I never realized how much the size of the pockets varied from one pair of jeans to another until I began carrying an afro pick.

That looks like a GREAT comb for long hair! I have been trying to rely on finger combing more lately, but it still doesn't get the whole job done, and I use a wide tooth comb to finish things up. I had never thought of using one of those, I will have to seek one out in my local store.

Yeah, that's what I usually use. My wife suggested it, and she doesn't even have long hair!
