Just thought I'd finally start a thread here as its been a while for me and since today is my birthday it seemed about time!LOL.Anyway its been a really nice day today in regards to the weather so I spent time outdoors to enjoy it.I also bought myself a birthday present kind of unexpectantly but when the opportunity comes you just have to take advantage of it I guess. A friend of mine is in the watch business and he tipped me off about a friends and family sale at the main offices of LVMH watch and jewelry.Well me being the big watch collector I had to go down to see what they had available and hit paydirt on a solid gold watch I always wanted.Even though it was still expensive it was a fantastic price for that kind of piece. So I picked it up and took some pics of me wearing it.Looks great with longhair too by the way!!!!LOLSo anyway here I am with the new addition.Mark
Happy Birthday Mark!
I am a fellow long hair and watch collector myself. Right now I am wearing a 29 jewel Eldorado gold plated automatic. I believe it is from the early 60's.
Darrin
Hi Darrin.Wow I just knew there had to be another watch guy on this board so its cool that you came forward. I have some vintage Omega automatics and a handwind from the 60s that I picked up on the internet. Most of my watches are stainless but I do have one thats gold plated also. Now with my newest addition I fianlly have an 18 K rose gold Zenith!I think I better calm down now as this is an expensive hobby.Oh just for the info you should check out the website of FinerTimes.Lots of vintage watches for sale there of many brands.I have four from them and was not dissapointed. Thanks for writing.Mark
Hi Mark,
First of all, a Happy Birthday to you! This is the first update I have seen from you in the 8 months I have been on the hyperboard and the wait was well worth it, you are blessed with perfectly straight hair in great condition with lots of shine, and the beard is looking super as well. You should be able to grow your hair a lot longer if you wish to do so. Also, I should add that your watch is awesome, solid gold, what a find!
I remember it was you who rescued that kitten and asked us for a good name for her (sadly, I can't remember her name), I was wondering how she is doing these days?
Also, I still hope to meet up with you on my road trip in 2009.
Keep it growing,
David
Hi David thank you so much for the nice comments.Even though I haven't posted a lot recently doesn't mean that I haven't been keeping up with whats been going on here.I do check in daily and I admire your dedication to this fine board. Also I want to further say that you are an excellent addition to the moderation crew!!!You certainly earned it.
As for my hair I have to say I'm happy with what I've obtained and at 45 now I'm glad its as thick as it is.Unfortunately I think I may have reached terminal length but I'll settle for my waist length and be happy with that if that is the case.Your hair has progressed well too David and I do hope your dreams are met in terms of length.I'm certainly rooting for you!!
Oh yes as for my kitty she is doing fine and liking her new home. And just to remind everyone she was named Opal as suggested by WWT from this board when I posted about naming her a while back.Again thank you so much for the nice words David.
Mark
Hi again, Mark,
Thanks so much for your kind words, you are a real gentleman. It is true that ever since I discovered the MLHH last September, I have thought that there is NO better place on the internet! When I got the invitation to join the crew in March, I accepted immediately, it really was a dream come true.
Thanks also for your compliments about my hair, hopefully my terminal length will allow me to have hair down to my waist, that is another dream of mine.
I am SO glad to hear that Opal is doing so well, she is in the best of hands now.
Take care,
David
Hi David bet you didn't think I'd see your post being that my thread is almost in the basement!LOL Well I meant everything that I wrote and I'll be rooting for that waistlength hair for you. Also hope to see you on the board always as I hate to see regulars such as yourself just disapearing.Catch you on a later thread!!Mark
Happy birthday, bro! Great hair length and very cool watch. Hope you enjoy the rest of your birthday. By the way, hows you're rescued cat? After my 16 year old cat passed away last November we finally picked up 2 kittens a couple weeks ago. It's nice to have the feline vibe back in the house and our lives...this time in stereo. Take care...
Hi there gman thanks for the compliments.Kitty is doing great as she is laying by me as I type this reply but have to keep her from walking on my keyboard when I use the computer.LOL.Hard to get a quality message out that way.Hope your new kitties are enjoying their new home as much as mine. Also I always admired your hair as well when you posted updates and will look forward to your future ones.Have a great day!!!Mark
you got so much nice long hair if I started licking your hair (like cats) I would be coughing hairballs...
Very interesting reply TaiFu but I thank you for the comments as they are unique.Have to say I always admired you long straight fantastic black hair!Jet black long hair is always just soooo cool.Looking forward for your next update.Mark
Dude,
I'm very impressed with your hair, so thick and loooong!!
Nice!
Comming from you Jason the "master of awesome hair in many forms" I'm honored!!! Your posts a while back of the hair braiding were outstanding as I always wondered how those styles would work for me.Now I just need to find someone who could apply their talents on me!Thanks for the compliments as they mean a lot to me especially from a guy like you.Mark
Marvelous!!!! Just Marvelous!!!!!
peace
clayton
Thank you clayton I'm blushing!!!!!LOL.Have a great day!Mark
Definitely coming along nicely, Mark! Your hair is a great length and something to be very proud of. Happy birthday, too! =)
-James
Hi James and thanks for your comments.Oh by the way I hope you went back to check your thread with all those pics you posted as I left a late reply to it.Very very nice photo gallery.Great hair progress too as you are certainly going places in that regard!Mark
Mark, Cool watch, nice goatee, fantastic long hair. an awesome look. the whole package! peace, jonalbear
Mark BTW, Happy Birthday! peace, jonabear
Hi jonalbear I do appreciate you your kind words. Also thanks for the e mail comments you sent about a week ago as I always welcome e mail from the longhairs of this board.Have to admit you have quality hair there yourself as I'm sure you are so proud of what you achieved.Take care my friend.Mark
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Mark!
That is one superb looking mane+watch!
Thanks so much Chris as after hair I do love my timepieces.Unusual hobby and hopefully no one thinks its kind of weird.LOL Just kidding. Thanks ...Mark
Happy Birthday !!
Your fur is lookin' just great !! Nice watch....you are showing your age though in appreciating analog.....there is a whole generation coming up that can only read digital !!
Walter White Tail
Hi Walter and first of all have to say Opal is doing great and loves her name you suggested.Thank you for the kitty name and glad you like the hair and watch.Yea I know most of the younger guys aren't into mechanical watches but I think they are a work of art.I didn't post a pic of it but the back of that watch is transparent as you can see the inner working parts such as the winding rotor and gears, etc. Not going to see that in a digital watch!LOL.Mark
Happy Birthday Hairball! Your long hair looks great and I am so glad that you treated yourself to a Birthday Present that you wanted.
Thanks for the birthday wishes Justin and yes it was a nice gift I bought myself but it was totally unexpected. If my friend hadn't of called me about the sale I never would have known about it.And hes a longhair too just for the record LOL,Justin your hair is fabuolus too as I'm always impressed when you post pics from time to time.A real insperation!Mark
Happy Birtday!
The Hair, The Watch, and the Beard (sounds like the title of a book)looks great!
Karsten
Hi Karsten hope all is well with you as I enjoy your cool outdoor hair pics as they are so unusual. As for me I really feel lucky to be able to grow the hair that I have.Ever since I was in high school I always envied longhair on guys so after graduating I gave up my shorthaired look and its been hair hair hair ever since!LOL Thanks for your copmments.Mark
Happy Birthday, a day late. Yesterday was my sister's birthday as well! Your hair is looking great, and looks like you have a nice garden in your backyard as well. I like the watch. It's fun to pick out your own presents, then you get exactly what you were looking for. I am always scared to wear anything like a nice watch since I am fearful I'll lose it though!
Thanks for the wishes Bragi and a big Happy Birthday to your sister as well!!!Yes it is nicer to pick out your own gifts as at least there is no exchanging of things at the store afterward.I don't blame you about being scared to loose something nice such as a watch as I use my cheaper watches if i'm going anywhere that might lead to a lose or theft.Keep up the progress on your hair BTW and do look forward to an update from you.Take care.Mark
Happy Birthday!
Love the mane, and the watch is sweet. How's Opal by the way?
Mouse
Hi there Mouse thanks for the nice comments.Opal is doing great in her new home but the other cats had a hard time adjusting to her arrival.Hopefully they are getting used to Opal by now as shes here for the long haul.Have a great day as its beautiful here today in NJ.Mark
Your straight hair looks well cared for and the watch does go well with it!
Congratulations!
Thanks Luckskind for the compliments as your hair is such an inspiration to me as well.I take great pride in my hair and will treat it very kindly so as to keep it looking nice. Also I'm thankful of the quality of it at my age today and hope it stays that way.Looking forward to new items in the Shoppe!Mark
Happy (late) Birthday!!!!
Both the hair and the watch are looking great!
Keep it growing
-Mihnea
Thanks Mihnea I appreciate that. And don't worry as if it will grow more I'll certainly let it!Take care.Mark
Happy Birthday Mark, it's great to see your update! Your hair looks fantastic. Congratulations on the watch find. It's always nice to treat yourself on your birthday, after all who knows better than you, what you really want.
Keep on growin'
Bruce
Thank you Bruce for the HB wishes and it would be pretty bad if I had to buy myself a gift card!LOL.Keep up the hair growth and I look forward to an update when you get the chance.Mark
Happy B-Day and cool hair that's the length I'm going for.
Thanks Kevin. There certainly is something special when your hair reaches your waist as it seems to represent a milestone of sort.Glad to hear you have the same goal in mind as I'm sure you'll love it as much as I do.Mark
Happy Birthday Hairball! Your hair looks great! How long did it take you to get to that lenght. I'll hit the four year mark on Sept. 1 and mine seems a little shorter than yours. Have a great day!
Del
Hi there Del and thanks for your positve comments.Actually its hard for me to say how long it took to get it this long mainly because I used to always trim it to keep it at mid back. Finally a couple years ago I decided to stop trimming it and just go for broke which is where I'm at today.I've had longhair ever since graduating high school and its gone through some interesting changes.Mainly different lengths but in the late 80s I actually had it permed!LOL.That really was a big mistake as I think it really hurt my hair at the time with all the chemicals. Now its just its old happy, straight ,and long self.No further changes needed thank you.Anyway glad to hear from you and would love to see more pics of your hair as well.Mark
Hi! I hope that you had a great day! I've enclosed a picture of myself from a little over a month ago. I've been growing my hair for about 3 years and 8 months with only one trim. On August 31, 2003, I decided to cut my hair short. A stupid decision. I had let it grow for 7 years and my hair was down to my belt. I'm aiming for that length again. Once a longhair, always a longhair. Hope to hear from you again.
Del
Hey thanks for posting those pics so fast Del as your hair looks a lot like mine from what I see there. You have such high quality hair I'm surprised that you cut it short way back when.Lots of guys here would love to have hair like yours. Both front and back look outstanding. In fact I think you should change your avatar to the frontal pic you just provided mainly because of that nice smile that your current one lacks. You look so much happier in the new pic.Just a suggestion though in my humble opinion.Anyway you are well on your way to waist length as I think it would look great on you.Yea I know I'm biased towards really long hair so please excuse me.Take care and thanks for the fast response.Hope to hear from you again Del.
Mark
Del
Hi again Del we seem to be doing a thread within a thread here!LOL.Yes I did notice also that you were from NJ as its cool to know that other board members live here and that they all aren't in CA.Nothing wrong with CA as its a beautiful state. Its certainly been a great couple days here weatherwise as I wish it could be like this year round and I do look forward to the spring and summertime. You are also very observant about my cats too.Their names are Cleo,Cammi, and of course Opal who is the one I rescued back last December. If you want send a email direct as it would be nice to hear more from you as you sound like a nice guy.I'm about to head out now for the gym so do take care and hope your having a great day.Mark
Hi, again Hairball. Here's one from the front.
Del
Dear Mr. Hairball,
Happy, happy belated birthday wishes, Mark! Quenyan here. And, despite my Elfin consciousness, ya know, that whole timelessness thingamajig, I, too, am a fan keeping track of time with collectible timepieces. Very nice watch, bro. Your attendant picture, BTW, is one of the best that has ever appeared on this board. Hey, I'm an artist with a keen eye. The pose, facial determination, composition, and resolution, not to overlook the lighting, are all ace.
Say, Mark, speaking OF watches, go to http://thewatchery.com where, I believe, you might find yourself spending considerably less online than with an in-person middle man. I recently got a Movado for MY birthday. Treating ourselves to a nice present is one of the best things that we can ever do for ourselves.
I don't know WHY the internet gremlin chose to negate my original post to you twelve hours ago (paraphrasing Bette Davis from "All About Eve" mayhaps?), but, I wish you all the best in the years ahead. Say, why not figure your pet feline, Opal, in one of your future self-portrait photos, hmn?
Yours in hirsutism,
Quenyan (+:-)}

Hi there Quenyan I have noticed you as of recently here but have yet to get a chance to chat with you until now.Sorry to hear that your original post didn't get through but at least this time you made it.Thanks for the critique of my pic as it was just a wing it type shot as my hair was kind of messy but just the same I liked how it came out.I will check out that site you mentioned as I've never heard of tht one before. Also congrats on the Movado watch as that is one brand I do not have yet.If you could post a pic of it that would be so cool.Oh yes I will check with Opal as I'm sure she will have no problem with a group pic with me especially since I feed her every day. Thanks for writing as you sound like an interesting guy.Mark
Wondering about the friend...in the watch business and he tipped me off about a friends and family sale at the main offices of LVMH watch and jewelry....hit paydirt on a solid gold watch I always wanted. Even though it was still expensive it was a fantastic price for that kind of piece.
Hey...wondering what % discount off list the LVMH Friends & Family sale offers? Congrats, and Happy Birthday...nice present!!!
wow man..a gold watch??that's awesome..I wish I had gold too!!(If I had enough money,I'd buy the authentic WWE championship belt..lol!^_^)
anyway, the hair is lookin ace!!it suits you really well!
long hair forever,
-Jacob
Hi Jacob glad to hear from you.Yea the watch is so cool as stainless is ok but not very exciting.Glad I was able to obtain it as it was the only gold one they had left that was in my price range.I think the WWE belt has way more gold than my watch so I can only imagine what its worth.Always nice to dream though.Mark
Happy belated birthday Hairball!
I just love your hair and its great you found a lovely watch to celebrate.
Kind reagrds, Dave
Thanks for the Happy Birthday wishes even though that was two days ago but I appreciate that you responded being my post moved down quite a bit now and still I am getting responses.Certainly I'm looking forward to your next update as your last one was fantastic! You are making tremendous progress and have a bright longhaired future.Mark
Well thankyou Mark for your kindness, i was thinking that maybe i will wait a few months until something really exciting happens, dunno, we'll see.
Thanks again and take care, dave
Well then I'll try and be patient but I dunno!!!!! Thats OK it'll be great no matter when you post them!Mark
Hey Mark:
Good to keep seeing progress on fellow old farts; looking good!
Nice watch. If you really want to confuse the younger generation, get one that runs backwards. It's amazing how much fun it can be when you are out and about!
George
Hi George thanks for taking the time to reply to my thread.Actually I don't do too many so called progress pics because there doesn't seem to be that much additional growth as thats why I think my hair may have reached terminal. However being it made waist length is enough for me but it would be interesting to go further.Mark
Mark
Looks great man thanks for your update to
Axel
Hi Axel thanks for the reply to my post especially since the thread moved down quite a bit now.Hopefully I can post a little more often than I have been of late.Mark
