How true. :) Here in Silicon Valley, the stereotype is either rock music or IT! Most people do a double take when I tell them I'm a jazz musician and a pipe organ technician!

Presumptions get made about everyone, no matter their style, look, sexual persuasion or what have you. Hell, I often am presumed to be a pot head (I dont have long hair even...yet..) simply because I'm often tired. Not only is that a bad observation, but its just essentially groundless. As I said though, no matter who you are people are going to presume certain things about you, nothing can change that.
I know it, every time I listen to psychedelic music during my way to school, then guys always tell me I look like drunk, smoked or LSeD.
I don't think its too offending, because I am in age when being a pothead is common, and the guys mostly are potheads as well, so they doesn't mean it badly.
Unlike the n/T's here. Once again it's about the people that believe the stereotype and it's just one of those unfortunate things in life. The best thing is just to ignore them.

Hi Dave all I can add to that and this is only my opinion and that is I could give a rats *** what people think of me based on just appearance. If they don't want to get to know me for the person I am inside then thats their problem.So I wouldn't let it bother you as there are too many people complaining about being offended anyway lately.Must be in the "IN" thing I guess.LOL.Mark
Not a longhaired guy. A guy with long hair in a certain style. I.e uncut or uncut looking.
If you don't want that then get it cut into more of a style then people won't as much :P
Unless you want very long hair then you have no choice!
If you're not, then why worry about it?
Look at it this way - would an all out pothead have invaded Iraq?
