Sorry i'm not on so often.
We all get busy and this rather narcissistic pasttime of taking photos of myself to share with other long-hair admirers is low in the priority list these days...
but the sun was just right this afternoon for a couple good ones.
Here's my favourite.
Take care everyone. Hopefully summer will bring more time to chat.
Shawn (Mr.Crow)
Hi Shawn,
It's GREAT to see you again, hopefully with the school season coming to an end in the next month or so, we will be seeing you on the hyperboard more often. As always, your curls are looking super, keep those manlocks growing as the months and years roll on.
All the best to you and your lovely family,
David
Thanks dave. You have always beena real support. the beard is looking good in the avatar and, for you, I've included a picture of Holly and me recently taken.
Thanks for your comments. I hope to be back in full(er) force soon.
Shawn
Hi Shawn,
Thank you SO much for sharing this lovely picture with us. Yes, Holly is just as sweet as ever, her smile that melts everyone's heart is just as radiant as ever! You have SO much to be proud of.
Take care,
Dave
Hi Shawn, really cool picture mate. You made me laugh out loud about taking the pictures of yourself being narcisstic, my teenage daughters found my own monthly update photos on my phone and thought it was hilarious that their old dad would want to see his hair growth progress, (7 months). Well Shawn your own hair is looking good and i wish you well. All the best mate and remember there is nothing wrong with a bit of self admiration, we deserve it. Jonny H uk

Spoken like a man after his own heart. (My kind of fellow!)
The process is fun. Keep it well-documented.
All the best, putting up with the groans from teenaged daughters. I teach many teenaged girls and something they think is awesome one day, they laugh at the next. Isn't it great to have such energy in your life!?
Take care.
Shawn
That is one of the coolest pics I've ever seen here, Shawn, --- and I can't believe those curls!!!!!!
Is it true that using a brush on curly hair is something that doesn't work too well? I remember reading that from somebody else's post one time; but just thought I'd ask, since your hair is obviously VERY curly.
Anyway, take care, --- and definitely keep it growin'!!!

Ah....Gawrsh! (à la Goofy)
Well, it isn't a prety sight, if that's what you mean. (Neither my hair nor the floor which is invariable scattered with dark fluff...) It does feel good to sometimes run a brush through it, though. Most eaily accomplished after the hair has been in a ponytail and has been psuedo-straightned by the process, but still requiring a lot of finger detangling and painful grunts. Certainly not part of the regular grooming.
I generally wet my hair, run a pick through to thoroughly detangle, add some frizz-taming leave-in conditioner ('got2be hottie' works well) -often once on top and then, hanging my head forward and upside down, getting the underside of the hair, too. Still upside down, I run my fingers through it acouple times to pull it downward, towards the floor and away from my head. I shake like a dog. Stand and gently finger comb the hairs on my crown to a natural part. If I need the curls to last a bit (like in the pic where the photo was taken 12 hours or so after styling and after a day at work teaching), I add a touch of mousse and just rub in downward.
(OK A bit too much info....but you did wonder...)
thanks for your posts and your 'long' time encouragement.
Shawn
Wow. I do not post here as often as I lurk and i must say i admire people like you with curly hair who take the challenge of growing it long. It's a real testament to your perserverance. My own hair is wavy and doesnt flatter me as I am in the awkward phase(10 months).
May your growth rate miraculously speed up.
Peter.
THAT would be nice. A practical miracle, for once. (Who needs deified images in corn chips, anyways?)
Thanks for the compliment. I am much happier with my hair now than I was at 10 months. Muscle through, Peter. You can do it!

Hi Mr. Crow,
Hope the school year closes out well for you and you have more time soon! Well, yor hair looks great. The curls are just so tight and defined that I can hardly believe it! I think my predictions are definitely coming true. When I had earlier said that you would have hair that would be the envy and delight of all the "curly-heads," I was not wrong.
See more of you soon, Bragi
Gosh....I'm practically (though not quite) blushing.
I couldn't have gotten this far without all the support from my fellows.
Cheers to you all.
Shawn
Exellent mancurls Shawn!
Keep on growin'
Bruce
Thanks. I am really coming to accept and even like the bignes of my hair (when frizz in tamed, atleast).
I appreciate your comments.,
Shawn
Good to hear from you again Shawn, and wow those curls are amazing. Its all looking really great, take care and I hope you get some more 'downtime' soon.
Dave
Those are some curls. Don't give up because the tight curls make your hair look shorter than it really is. I don't have tight curls, but when my hair is wet they get nice long curls. My hair appears slightly shorter than it really is, but I continued to grow them and after a certain length, the weight allows the curls to expand lengthwise.
When wet (or psuedo-staright from having been in a pony all day), it does appear much longer. It is part of the mutable joy of curls -I can appear short-ish haired still (compared to my straight-haired brethren) yet am coming to enjoy some of the joys of long hair.
thanks for the post.
Shawn
Great to see you're still around!
Those curls are awesome as ever.
Keep em growing!
-Mihnea
Hey Shawn
Those curls are looking very defined and healthy. Keep em growing as they can only get better and better :-)
Thanks, Chris. I am loving them and intend on letting them sit on my shoulders like bumches of grapes some day.
shawn
What else is there to say? The curls rock! Hope the end of the schoolyear is treating you at least somewhat well. The hair looks great, Shawn! =)
-James
Always kind, James. Thanks for the long-time support. You'll be 13 months in, what, 12 days? (I know we are just about at the same rate, chronologically).
Thanks for your comment.
Shawn
The sun was just right to show just how shiny and healthy your hair is...
...and congratulations on the progress you have made so far!
Thanks. I really only intended on taking a couple pictures of my Pug as the lighting was superb. But....I had the camera out...
I appreciate your comment.
Shawn
Hey, man. That's a brilliant photo, and it also highlights your brilliant hair, which I'm envious of. My hair was a mess at that stage, but you've consistently kept yours healthy, and it'll pay huge dividends later down the line.
The potential narciccism of these photos - heh, great point. I had actually been thinking of that recently when I wanted to ask someone to take my picture for an update, but I felt too embarrassed.
At any rate, keep it up, and those curls will come down.
Peace
Thanks, FA.

(This compliment was made possible by advice like yours...thanks!)
While I do feel a lot of satisfaction at my hair growth and my hair quality/look etc..., few outside of a bboard like this understand or really appreciate. (Hence most of my photos are taken by me).
I can feel that they are headed taht way, though not for a while. Around the two year mark, I should notice some major difference, I think. Time will tell.
Thanks for the post, FA.
Shawn
Great progress here, Shawn. Most importantly though, you've really managed to keep your hair looking so healthy and neat during this stage. It will have a huge payoff as you continue growing. Keep it growing, man.
Thanks. It is healthy largely in part to the advice and support I got here early on.
Shawn
I love the picture, Shawn. It's so colorful, and you look like you're relaxing on a pillow of curls. I've also been busy as of late (out of town for a week and a half actually), so I'm trying to play catch-up.
I hope life settles down for you in a bit, but I know at least for me I tend to notice more growth when I'm too busy to worry about my hair everyday.
