I am at that in between stage where not quite long enough to tie back but long enough to fall in my eyes. My front hair is almost to my lip...anyway, what can I use to keep my hair close to my head and not fly away so easily? I am presently using Gel and letting it dry that way but I don't really like that look and you CAN'T comb or brush your hair or you lose your hold...Any suggestions for oil, creame etc. that works great, looks good, has a hold and can still comb hair???
Thanks! G-O
Well the whole point of products like Gel, Wax, hairspray or mousse is to lock in the style you've created. Once you've fixed the style, you should not need to comb or brush your hair afterwards. And most products are designed to "brush-out".
Your present routine sounds like it might be a bit arse-about-face, because if you apply gel to wet hair, then let it dry naturally, but you go outdoors and get windswept then the gel will lock in the windswept style. My advice would be to apply some product to damp hair, then dry your hair with a hair dryer to fix the style in place.
Given the length of your hair mousse is probably a better choice than gel or wax which tend to work better in shorter styles. Also you might want to try some non-product alternatives for keeping your hair out of your face. Headbands, half-tails etc.
You can try some kind of pomade or wax, because it doesn't get so stiff, you can comb even if you have it in your hair.
That's the stuff wich i use most often anyway.

I'm in the same stage as you currently, and due to several unneccesary haircuts, I've been in that stage for quite a while. But I've just recently found the GREATEST product ever - pomade. This stuff gives holds your hair like gel but it doesnt dry, so you can run your fingers through your hair, move it around, ect. It's really a miracle cream. You can probably get it at a nearby drugstore (i get mine from CVS). But just a little tip, don't use too much of it or your hair will look really greasy. A little goes a long way.
