Hi everyone. Thank you to all who replied to my hair down pic.(Thank you Nic, purr!)
Just wondered who everyone's long haired role models/inspiration are? As there are not many long haired people in the media, where do you draw your inspiartion from.
Mine would have to be Johnny Depp and Antonio Banderas in Desperado. Just love that whole long haired latin look.
Anybody else? Included is my rather feeble attempt at the slick back single pony-tail look!
Hey! That's a look wich i also used alot when my hair was long, it looks cool and is rather practical, now i'm growing my hair out again, but this time without letting any hairdyes come near my hair.
I also draw much of my inspiration from desperado, that latin long hair look is so cool in some way, and another big inspiration for me is Steven Seagal, he's starred in some great movies!
By the way, where are you from, i'm from the nort of Sweden:)
Simon
I've always gotten my inspiration from Dee Snider, I'm not going for the mullet look or anything though. :P
Hey, Troy, nice shot, man!
When're ya ever gonna go into longhaired modelling!? Seriously! As for an answer to your question, "NONE! I HAVE NO LONGHAIRED ROLE MODELS!", unless of course you count all the ancient, Pagan, polytheistic, longhaired cultures around the world and throughout history. Vercingetroix, chieftan of the Averni, who led the Gauls against Caesar, leaps to mind, and most heroes and gods who had long hair. THEY are my role models, but there's no one alive today who is. Then again, time is an illusory construct concocted by men. LOL! Ya look great, Troy, so keep it growin'!
Yours for longhaired camaraderie,
Quenyan (+:-)}
No one in the media for me but I find that Beatnikguy and Karsten are an inspiration for me.
Too Cool!
Antonio Banderas was one of my inspirations too.
Definately Will Turner from Pirates of the Caribbean (played by Orlando Bloom). I've been trying all sorts of gels and waxes and the like to get my hair like his. At the moment I'm quite impressed with this pomade I'm using. It gives weight to my rather thin, wispy hair so I can just throw it back without a part (and it stays back), and it doesn't dry and make my hair stiff.
By the way the ponytail looks great :)
First off, I just posted to your hair down post further down.
Now...I love this topic and over the years my answers on this board have changed :-)
Before I ever grew out my hair (e.g. 2000) it was any long-haired metal player. I guess that's still the case though!
Then, when I was actually growing my hair out, the first time, in the first year or so, it was Robert Smith of The Cure.
Then my role model was Adrian Paul from the Highlander show, although I still appreciate how he did the ponytial 'look' and so i guess I look like him most days now anyway lol
And of course Shawn Michaels, or HBK, the wrestler. I even did a collage of him for our site here, when I last responded to this question.
But NOW, and maybe because as my hair is getting longer than its ever been (cut my hair the first time after 2.5 years and now am 3yrs3 months into my 2nd time growing) I am fully realising that my hair while still very wavy, is above all Fine as a type.
So maybe for that reason (i.e. same hair type as me) and maybe because I love his stage presence and of course his/their music , I will have to go with Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden.
Up the Irons!
Pavel Nedved!!!!!!!

Hardly looks feeble to me in the slighest. It looks great!
As for a role model. I have never had one and probably at my age never will. I have always just simply been myself and done my own thing.

Hyperboardwise, FireInTheSky, grrrrr, and Devon(sp?) are my role models. :)
Celebwise, Hugh Jackman.....
.....and Keith Urban.
Hi, Mine would have to be Shawn Phillips, the great folk singer, songwriter, guitarist. Check out the cover to his "Second Contribution" album. Still a great performer and still sporting a tail into his 60s. peace, jonalbear
John Lennon was my inspiration. I used to think he had the coolest hair in this pic...
That's my inspiration
Brett
All right, all right Troy!
Here is a much different answer from me than previously: Eric Arthur Hammer! He is a true Renaissance artist in every sense of the word. He's my role model/inspiration. Here's a list of just some of his accomplishments.
He's a brilliant comedy writer (ever hear of Adult Swim's "The Venture Brothers" before?), painter (his ongoing series of oil paintings, "Saint Number", involves beautiful, exotic women in bras!), songwriter, multi-talented musician, has collaborated with his friend Ben Edlund (creator of "The Tick" cartoon and later live action series!), and, with his former wife, Lisa Hammer, headed the amazing Goth-Bluegrass/Operatic-Metal/Death-Rock bands, Requiem In White, The Order of the N.C.S., and lastly Mors Syphilitica (Latin for Death by Syphillis!). Cut and paste this URL of their music video, "My Virgin Widows" from their CD, "Feather and Fate":

ALSO, Doc Hammer (as he is known with his new band, Madison Strays!) is also the quintessential host if ever ya should run into him in his neighborhood of NYC's Little Italy and he invites ya up for a private gallery showing. AAAAAND, he's Straight Edge and a vegetarian. His former wife, Lisa, has her own concern in Los Angeles, The Blessed Elysium Motion Picture Company, findable here:

Happy surfing y'all!

My first inspiration was the Beatles in 1960s.
ME! -Definitely inspired by the Agent Sands character in Once upon a time in Mexico.
Also like Freddie Mercury in his long haired days..
I know this is a belated response to an old thread, but I couldn't resisting contributing to this topic. I've been a Todd Rundgren fan for over 35 years, and he's had long hair all of that time.
