Once again, thanks for this community everyone, it is a truly special place.
Sorry for the lack of presence the last few weeks, although unfortunatley I still won't be as around for the next month at the very least due to insane amounts of work in my last year of my undergrad degree (I finsih mid-November).
This is also a 'body update' I guess...for those who don't know I have been accepted and will be heading over to Calgary...Alberta Canada, to be trained as a Professional Wrestler by Lance Storm.
Yes!
By the time I get there in January 2008, I would have been weight training for 4 years, but in the lead-up to it, I am intensifying my training in all areas (weights, cardio, strength, agility, flexibility, stamina, hair :)
and it feels like a 7 minute Rocky sequence in 7 months.
RARGHH...
Off to the gym now, then back home for a shower and a condition, I'm loving the Kerastase range right now, it really works for me.
Dean/Your friendly local neighbourhood mod
P.S. Sorry for the crazy eyes...it was unintentional :)
Dean, duuuuude, you're lookin' ace!
Can't WAIT 'til I catch up t' ya, then, it'll be belt (hip) length for me. Even though you WILL NEVER find me in the gymn, does your diet also reflect yr hard work on yr physique? Also, just outta curiosity, what's yer degree gonna be in?
Good luck w/t rest of yr semester. Don't let your longhairedness ever stop. Ever!
Yrs in longhairedism,
Quenyan (+:-)}
Thanks, i am pretty fly :)
Awesome length to go for Sir.
But if you won't get in the gym, I'll be expecting you to start lifting objects in your house, tables, chairs, cutlery, eleven tomes etc.
As for my diet, I pay attention to it, but simply put I have to eat more! Even when I don't want to.
My degree is a Bachelor of Liberal Studies, which I'm doing at the University of Sydney, double-majoring in History (Arts Major) and Psychology (Science Major). The plan is to ue it to get into a Graduate Dipolma of Rehabillitation Counseling in the future.
Thanks :-)
Dean, you're excellent,
My wife sez that I should also do the Recovery thing, too, since I have the same sentiment. Healing. Good luck in yr endeavors, we need you. Thank you. You're doing great. God loves ya!
Yrs in longhaired AND Recovery camaraderie,
Quenyan
Ohmigawd, Dean, that's awesome!
Thank ya for answering! You're amazing!
We need more longhaired brothers in the Recovery field. Thank you. Thank you.
Best wishes always,
Quenyan (+;-)}
Dean, duuude, you're great!
Thanks for yr response! Your progress is amazing. Pls don't stop.
I am here for complete support (see attachment) . . .
Yrs in longhaired camaraderie,
Quenyan (+:-)}
Dean, dude, you're a power of inspiration!
My dad got a bachelor of liberal arts at S.U.N.Y. Champlain. I went to the School of Visual Arts as well as the Arts Students League and school just isn't for me, I don't know why, but it just isn't. My wife sez that I should be a doctor, I know so much stuff. Wives. You know. Anyway, your sense of humor, like someone ehyulse I told her on the board, is legendary. Thank you for your postings. They're a continued/continuing source of inspiration.
Best wishes in longhaired camaraderie,
Quenyan (+:-)}
Heh, crazy eyes!
Nice update, Dean. The long hair and muscles make for a unique look, as you're not (yet) a wrestler. Speaking of which, you somehow just have that "wrestler look" going on, which is really quite cool. Your hair reminds me of HBK's, for some reason.
Best of luck with your studies and your continued hair journey, man. Keep it up (while lifting weights, anyway).
Peace
Wow, I have that desired 'look', my hair reminds you of HBK (!), you wish me luck on my studies AND you make a humorous comment at the end...i.e. did I just read the 'perfect' progress pic response?
Thanks man.
P.S. Don't forget to keep us updated on you :)
I would be happy to wrestle you, man!
Sweet :) Where are you based??
I will be in Canada next year from january maybe till as late as June, and then I'll be back in Sydney.
But if I do decide to wrestle long-term, heck in 5 years for example, who knows where the hell I'll be!
But thanks
I am in Baltimore. Have mats.

Hi! Congratulations on being accepted at the Wrestling Training School. That really sounds like an incredible opportunity, but alot of hard work. Those wrestlers really train hard. I always wanted to see what Shawn Michael's school was like. I think it is in Arizona. I also work out alot, so I know the hard work that you have put into your body and it looks like it has really paid off. Your hair looks great too. Good luck.
Del
Thanks Del!
Yeah it was a great opportunity as Lance doesn't train too many people a year.
Also thanks for your other comments about me being in any way similar to Shawn Michaels!
& as for you, yes I can tell you work out, and if you love wrestling so much why don't you go and get trained, not to wrestle after perhaps but just as an experience you know?
Thanks again and all the best to you.
Hi Dean, 'Tis a good update and glad to see you still around. That's great you'll be getting to go to Canada next year. Hope all goes as planned.
The hair looks great, and glad to see you've surpassed your former length. Good luck with your studies, and try to get by here more. I miss your brand of humor.
First off thanks for the good wishes ('Praise from Caesar' perhaps? :) and as for getting by here more...
I'll do my best baby!
As for my brand of humor...yes I know, it is fantastic.
Oh, if only we could banter 'alla Larry David' in real life ('dramatic sigh' etc etc.)
I love the Larry David show that used to come on HBO and Seinfeld! Would be fun bantering if we weren't on opposite sides of the planet!
Good Luck on your final degree work, congratulations on the direction you are heading.....and thanks for sharing the update photo....Lookin' Fantastic !
WWT
I remember you saying a few years ago that sometimes a person can do more than 1 degree, if they feel that that will get them doing what they want to be in life.
Well, while I am happy with my degree (Arts/Science Liberal Studies one), I'm also going to be doing personal Training, Rehabillitation Counseling (I will do a Graduate Diploma perhaps into a Masters) and Professional Wrestling, so I wanted to say thank you to you, as you unknowingly were a small part (but still a part!) of my decision to really go through with what I wanted to do with my life.
"...thank you to you, as you unknowingly were a small part (but still a part!) of my decision to really go through with what I wanted to do with my life..."
Today is my birthday (really old)....your comments are the best present I guy could ever get. Thanks
Walter
Hi Dean,
I am so glad to hear that you are still around and about, I can see that things have been VERY busy for you lately. You have posted a great update, your hair, looks great, and as always, you are ripped, dude! Congratulations on your future plans, and may you join the professional wrestling leagues some day!
All the best,
David
Yeah they have been! Thanks for your comments David, always supportive of me as usual and greatly appreciated.
...although, as for being ripped...let's just say that Dean needs to learn the meaning of 'Cardio' more hehe :-)
Awesome hair, and you're ripped! haha
Best of luck with the wrestling!
-Mihnea
Ripped to shreds baby!
Well...not really :-)
Thanks for the good wishes, and much needed as I'll need all the luck I can get probably!
Hey, Dean!
Impressive update! Your hair looks awesome. Also, You look a bit intimidating in this picture :-)
Hey Chris!
I look intimidating do I!!???!
Thanks :)
Can you imagine then when it is intentional then? lol
& thanks for always commenting on my progress shots. I do notice bud :)
I don't even want to imagine you angry!! :-0
It is always a pleasure commenting on your updates. You are a cool dude and besides that, Your updates are always awesome!
Take care.
Actually the crazy eyes work they're cool. your hair is great good luck on the degree hats off to you.
So if I watch WWF I'll see you there. LOL
Good luck with that also.
Kevin
Cool Kevin, although I'm not sure how valid your WWF/E statement is LOL indeed!
Thanks for the compliment and as for the crazy eyes...I'm short-sighted and didn't have my glasses on, so I was actually trying to find the lens on the phone, but I couldn't really see anything!
I may have longer hair than yours; but, man, that body... In my DREAMS i have a bod like that; but, unfortunately, then I have to wake up and eventually look into the mirror... NOT a "pretty sight" these days, my friend, --- and NOT the energy and amount of free-time I used to have when I was younger, in order to "fix it" (lol)!!
- Geezer Gourley
Listen up old man, 'Geezer' if you will...not damned good enough! I know you, I know what you're about, I know that you have the courage to go through with what you want. The fact that you cut all your hair off in 2000 and then made a CHOICE to grow it back and keep it, demonstrates that plainer than anything. But yet even more than that you have shown an ability to get past your strict father and your upbringing which demanded buzzcuts: you are your own man and when it came time for you to realise that you weren't happy with your wife, not because of her but because of who you were, well then you followed yourself there too and yet are still good friends with her.
That's the kind of man you are Ken.
You're NOT a 'Geezer'
You are not 'old'
You are a bit fat, yes :-)
But do you have to be? HELL NO!
It's all in your mind mate.
I mean sure you may not have the genetics of a bodybuilder (but then who the hell does, I certainly don't!) or youth, which may have some benefits in terms of testosterone production, but the benefits of weight training (muscle hypertrophy, strength increases, stronger bones, more mobility in joints) have been shown in studies with people in their 70's.
So you can gain all that, but by lifting hard and properly, eating well, doing LOTS of cardio or intense activities like squash perhaps (or just increasing your dancing :) you can also start to shape your body to how you dream it to be.
Don't look at me and say 'damn I wish that was me', look at yourself and say 'I can be that'.
And you will.
And if I have said things here that weren't true such as about your ex-wife, well then I apologise, but believe me Ken everything I've said is heartfelt and you CAN have the body of your dreams.
As well as your incredible long hair of course :-)
Crazy eyes or not, the hair is looking GREAT! Good luck with school too. It will be well worth it! take care!
I know it's well worth it, but to be honest I am a bit burned out after nearly 4 and a half years.
In that time I grew my hair from shoulderblade length to almost mid-back, cut it ALL off, kept it short for 6 months and now grown it again to its longest length yet, mid-back.
Whew! I need a Coke.
& thanks for the encouraging words.
