Sorry for the no repsponses. My sister just flew into town from up north so I've been forced to spend time with her haha and SAT's were this morning so I had been preparing for them. Also it was the last day of school yesterday. Anyway thanks for all the quick responses, you guys are no joke on here! But you see the ONLY thing that's keeping me from growing my hair out is the Marines. I have one more year of high school and then I have to go to boot camp. I dont ship off after that though, I got to college for four years. But unfortunately I wouldnt be able to use those four years as growing time because every summer I have to go back and do a different type of training with the Marines so I can come out as an officer and so they'll keep paying for my college :) Then after I get out of college and I go directly into active duty for four years as a scout sniper. Then after the Marines I'm going to Miami-Dade SWAT. So I have no idea when I'll ever have the chance to grow my hair out in my young years which is when it really matters to me. I wouldn't want to go through the awkward stage that many times just to have it grow to half the length I want it to before I have to cut it again... The only option would be to go to the Marines after college and just pay for school out of my own pocket.
Now for some late responses:
Ken: I WANT long hair and Im pretty sure that with my sister being around to give me pointers, it would look great and end up being exactly what I want. But read my newest post and you'll see why, due to timing, I dont think I'll have the oppertunity to ever grow it out in my young years. Its sad lol
Kevin: Thanks and yea Im pretty sure I'd be able to get through the awkward stage. I have about 10 good male friends at my school that have pretty long hair. Shoulder length or longer. So Im sure they'd help me.
Quester: I didnt realize it would take only 18 months... that's actually very encouraging for me!
Leito: Theres a big problem with timing :/
Margie: Will you marry me? haha I would have killed to be alive and see Slayer that long ago. And there IS one person who can tell me to cut it... my DI
Mihnea: From the one or two times looking at this site I realized that I really like the look of your hair. I'd be more than happy to have hair that looks like yours does long haha. Like I was telling the other guys, Im pretty confident that my hair would look good n' crazy grown out but just read my newest post and you'll see whats holding me back.
By the way here's the hair I want for those of you who don't know who Tom Araya is bless your soul lol. OH and a big detail... I like the present day Tom Araya hair not the 80's version. Big difference.
Here's pic #2
Pic #3, the back
You say you want his hair as it looks today yet the man is 46.
Why then do you say that you want hair only in your 'young years', when the guy you want your hair to be like is 46!
I fully understand your situation now with the marines etc, but why not just grow your hair when you can in your late 20's, 30's or even 40's etc.?
Oh man that's tough!
I'm guessing there's no chance of negotiating the ponytail?
Ah, well hopefully you'll get it over with fast and let your locks grow.
Keep it growing and keep it metal \m/

PS Thanks for the compliment
I won't be able to negotiate the inch of hair I have now haha. But I think after SWAT (I'll be about 40-50) I'll be able to let it grow with no interruptions. Its a shame I have to wait so long though :/
Just decide what is more important or means more to you. Career or hair? By the way, Did i hear Miami-dade swat!? Wow. I live in Miami Dade County! :-)
Although it'll bring me happiness and women (well Marines dont lack in that department much anyway ;])I dont think my hair will bring me money. So maybe after SWAT I'll be able to grow my hair out. I'll be about 40-50 but better late than never!
There ya go! Ain't much else to it.
If you want to go into the marines, then long hair is pretty much out. You could cut your hair just once a year before training while you are in college. Mind you, I'm sure you can have an inch of hair, it's just they will shave it off first and you'll have to grow it back. I don't think military regs require hair as short as most actually have, but of course nothing that could remotely be called long hair. I've heard that hair long enough to comb is premitted but that other recruits make fun of you just for having it even that long.
Are you sure you want to plan your life out that far in advance? I'm not saying don't go into the military with a plan to switch to the police, if that's really what you want to do, but Miami-Dade SWAT sounds a little specific, that's all. IME most people that plan on working for a specific company are usually dissapointed, and that's probably just as true if you plan to work in specific unit in a specific PD.
BTW, apparently these days NYPD allows long hair on male officers, but requires it to be worn in a bun!! It's a long way from Miami, but something to consider. I guess it must take some b*lls for a male cop to wear a bun, but then I don't see anything wrong with it.
40-50? Wow, I don't even expect to live that long, I certainly wouldn't want to, anyway. That's pretty much an entire life, that is some serious dedication.
Well, working for any government is something I have been wholeheartedly against my entire life, and I'm afraid I lack the ability to understand why somebody would truly want to. That isn't to say I don't respect your decision.
Personally, I've had next to nothing worth fighting for, and the things I do fight for tend to wind up becoming meaningless to me. I'm full of sadness and hate, and I haven't posted here in a while, I haven't been in the best mental state. Basically, my head always hurts, I constantly feel lonely, and my thoughts are tearing away at my mind like claws and I always have the urge to scream and cry.
I think I lost track somewhere. Anyway, if fighting for what your country tells you is good, and fighting the enemies of those you serve sounds appealing to you, go ahead. In the long run, empires fall, and nothing is eternal. Honestly though, I don't think I'm in any position to dissuade you. My own life is near worthless to me by comparison I'm sure, I would have no qualms if somebody was to take my life, I don't know what it's like to stand up for anything, really. In the end, every last one of us will die.
I don't care about money, my future, or even my education at this point. I've grown extremely weary of everything, I just seem to do what people tell me to do, or I do next to nothing at all.
Does it not strike you odd that they want everybody to look the same and be uniform, stripped of individuality? Could there truly be anything good of that? Is it good to contribute to war at all? In the end, when you're 50 and in servitude, will it have paid off? You're nothing more than expendable force to an empire, and they hand you a few material things in return?
The first step toward peace is not to condone war. Do you truly believe that this government is the greatest and has done wrong to none, that it is a force that can bring peace? Sure, there are evil people our there who seek to rule over all, and they must be fought to be stopped, but is sacrificing your existence and any of your desires worth it to you? Perhaps the government you serve is no better, 'tis nothing more than an illusion of perspective?
Maybe none of this matters at all, and you're just a mercenary who would fight just to know he will never starve or seek shelter? The military is a force of evil in this world, I believe. In the long run, it's a question between you and yourself. Do you truly wish to devote your life to being a puppet?
