Well, Scarborough Faire is over (it was good seeing Arrick and Victor there!) and now I'm in Colorado, getting ready for the fair here which starts this coming saturday.
Anyways. . .a while back I posted asking for people's thoughts on a particular haircut called a "Khokhol", which I have decided against.
However, I have decided that it is time for a change with the hair, and have been spending the last few days untangling some of my dreads. The hair seems to be relatively undamaged, but the process takes forever! Currently it's running at around 4-6 hours per dreadlock (and I have just under 50 dreads!) On top of that, the normal 100-200 hairs/day that are normally shed have just been kept in the locks for just shy of 3 years. . .which means a *LOT* of hair is coming out, which I guess is normal, but still looks scary at 3 years worth of shed hair.
Anyways, I'll post photos in a week or two when I'm closer to being done, just wanted to let you know what's up!

Does that mean that you are trying to get "normal" long hair like most of us ? :D

You must have some good eyesight and extreme patience!
I didn't realize dreadlocks were reversible, but glad to hear you've been able to do this without cutting anything. I imagine it'll be strange when you can comb your hair again. Can't wait to see some pictures.

I know a girl who has beatiful waist lenght hair, she said she had dreadlock before but decided to change without cuting it and it looked great.

Wow, I can only imagine what three years of shed strands accumulates to. I bet your head is going to feel a lot lighter now =P It'll be interesting to see what your hair looks like undreaded.
Your Faire Haire Adventure has been one of the more fascinating to follow over the years. I can not wait for the next chapter !

I thought to get rid of dreds you had to shave them out. I have thought about dreding my hair before but i dont wanna shave my head. I have heard its possible to get tempory dreds - i might try them.
Think about it. Is a salon going to spend 4-6 hours times 50 = 200-300 hours unpicking dreads? Of course they are going to tell you that you have to have your head shaved instead. If they did agree to do it I guess the bill would be a few thousand - kind of an expensive hair appointment!
Hey Kevin, man, great website ya have!
Yeah. I had had dreads my(s)elf, but over fifteen years ago. Before I had committed to them, I had ALSO had them tediously picked, combed, and brushed out, twice, months apart, before redoing them and then finally keepin' 'em goin' and growin'.
I honestly found, I kid you not, that my perceptions were changing. Hey, look at the Sadhus of India who were the FIRST to sport them! Mayhaps there's something to restructuring your neural connexions and growing dreads. What say ye, Kevin?
Anyway, bruh, your's is an interesting story. It'd be great to see you performing with your troupe at some fair or other one of these days.

I hope things are going well in Colorado. It will be interesting to see what your hair looks like brushed out.Am currently on vacation in Port St Joe Florida, house on the beach.Don't see many longhairs down here.Got dialup here,it's slow.
Keep it growing,
Arrick
This will be really exciting!!
Can't wait to see what it looks like, especially as I have seen your progress pictures over the years and always wondered what your hair would look like undreaded.
Also curious to get an inside perspective on the 2 styles and see what according to you are the differences between being dreaded vs, free and flowin'!
Don't forget to post :)
