I made a video of me doing a rope braid on myself. The lighting is not wonderful but if one focuses on my hands, the movements should be able to be seen. I speak throughout it describing the steps but it's hard to hear what I'm saying.
Basically you divide your hair into just two sections rather than the three for a regular braid. You start with the right section and twist it clockwise a few times near its base. You then cross it over to the other side and then twist the other section that is now in your right hand. This process just keeps getting repeated. In some ways it's easier than a three strand braid because there are only two sections to keep straight.
BTW, my other braiding video has been added to the Links for future reference.

Thanks Jason,
THAT might be an easier starting point for my first tackle of braiding for me. The three strands involved in a french braid have been the bugbear for me, just not enough hands, and I can't keep thoise 3 sections organized, lol! I will give this one a try!

Thanks, Jason! Your videos are great! Look forward to the next one!
Thanks for making this video Jason. It is just a perfect introduction for a simple braid and ideal for the beginner. Perhaps add it in "links" to your other?
All the best -
Justin~
Outstanding video, Jason.
I think you should definitely add this to the links section.
Looks much easier to accomplish than the 3 strand braid, By the way...:-)
Thanks Jason..
Hopefully one day my hair will be long enough for that...
