I remember from when I was 8-9 years old(now I'm 14)there was this TV show which showed lots of intresting things all over the world. There was this man who had a dream that he grows out his hair so he did. then he discovered that his hair is very strong and he was able to move a train with it( in the begginning he tried pulling it with his teeth... Who heard about it too? If you did, can you find an article about it?
I have never heard about the train or hair pulling it. But this I know and it was pointed out by Absalom in a posting a long time ago which I believe to be true as the same has happened to myself.
As the hair gets longer less is lost.........thus it must be stronger in the sense of being pulled-out by its root.
Perhaps other guys who post with very long hair have experienced the same?
Yes, the root does seem to get stronger when hair reaches 1/2 meter or greater length. Hair has a tensile strength of 190 megapascals.
How strong is that? you ask.
To break a hair with a diameter of:
40 microns > 24.3 grams (extra fine hair)
50 microns > 38 grams (very fine hair)
60 microns > 54.8 grams (fine hair)
70 microns > 74.6 grams (medium hair)
80 microns > 97.4 grams (coarse hair)
90 microns > 123.3 grams (very coarse hair)
100 microns > 152.2 grams (extra coarse hair)
These values are for undamaged hair.

Thanks for the info, Absalom, it's always interesting when you post everything in details but I actually couldn't understand this last one. What do you mean about the grams for pulling hair out? It seems like really light. 100 grams to break a hair? I've pulled a hair sometimes and strongly and it doesn't come out (I don't do it often just like a few times)
Or maybe you meant something else? :/
Hey Grrrrr, the values are the amount of tension to actually break a hair strand. As I stated before, hair has a tensile strength of 190 megapascals. A hair that has a diameter of 70 microns will break when a pull of 74.6 grams is applied to it.
The roots of hair are usually not as strong as the hair is. I know this from combing my own hair, and hit a tangle, a hair will sometimes come out. The hair is not broken, but pulled out from the root intact.

I never heard of this guy; I only know of a Lithuanian man, Antanas Kontrimas, who actually pulled something like a jeep with his beard. He also lifted a woman with the beard.
See, he wasn't from Lithunaia..
I remember watching something of the sort on Russian T.V. a few years back, but he wasn't pulling a train, it was a truck that weighed several tonnes. I think whoever you're looking for would be in the Guiness Book of Records anyway ;)
maybe... I dunno..
I found an article about a woman pulling some cars.
Looking at that made me cringe !
