Oh god, it's hit and i feel horrible!
Wtery eyes, blocked and running nose at the same time, sneezing uncontrollably, it's not good.
What else gets it?
"What" else? Who you mean ;)
I sometimes get it, but it's never bad. Zinc tablets every day REALLY help your immune system.
Yeah i meant who. Hayfever is making me dillusional lol.
It is so bad now, i have just bought tablets but my eyes r red and watery as is my nose and i have a huge headahce. Not good.
I get it too, it's really bad :/
I also have a pretty bad allergy to house dust mites, so it's double the pain int he summer. However i've been getting injections which are supposed to make you used to allergens. It's some new cure they found, so far it's working for house dust mites which i've been doing throughout the winter, with an injection every two weeks. Next winter i'll be starting the hayfever treatment too so hopefully in a year from now i won't have any of these problems!
Let's just hope it works.
DaPs, No Hayfever is not good. "Beautiful misery" is what I call it because when the cherry and apple trees bloom I can feel the first signs. When the lilacs and roses first start I come into the complete throws of the symptoms. My hair and beard seem to itch more than other parts of my body. Curious! Can't wait for the goldenrod and ragweed! lol
peace, jonalbear
get some Allegra or Claranext or something... you'd need a prescription for those though but it works good and doesnt make you sleepy like the over the counter stuff.
Try some loratadine (that's the name of the drug - not a brand name). Look for products with that as the active ingredient. Non-prescription in the UK. Doesn't cause drowsiness. Works 100% for me - a wonder drug!
I believe it's brand name is Claratin, and there is an OTC strength, as well as prescription strength.
I believe you mean Loranol. It has the same active substace as Claritine. But this year somehow I don't use it. I am kinda lazy or something. Or do I want to get in touch with nature, believing that a single pill could threaten my peace negotiations?
If over the counter medications are not giving you barely any relief, you should see an Allergist. They will pin-point just what it is that is causeing this and have medication that really works great in getting you through this period.
I agree with Justin, my allergies hit around mid August until the first hard frost (Mid October). My doctoe found ragweed to be the villain which is common hence I take Zyrtec. I would think the NHS
has allergists but who knows.
Good luck and i know how you feel.
Kevin
For a few weeks each spring and summer I get minor attacks, but Allegra and Nasonex keep my allergies under control most of the time. I'm also a huge proponent of nasal irrigation with a neti pot. It sounds uncomfortable and gross, but it's neither, and the benefits are astounding.
I am allergic for about 10 years on pollen, spores, mould, mites, rotting grass... Yeah, it's awful. Except of that, practically all the year I have less or more intensive catarrh. Some years ago, the allergy could cause one or both my eyes get swollen so I couldn't open it and itch as hell, but since that time it is better and it never happened anymore.
I believe that allergies including the hay fever may be psychosomatic, so people are causing it to themselves by their life position, behavior, attitudes... Specially when a person is touchy, self-unconfident, avoiding a closer touch with surroundings, and so on. So we are responsible for our illnesses.
I recommend you two things:
1) Make a big change in your personality. Be happy and active.
2) It is good to eat several spoons of pollen every day. It is a bit expensive, but only if you don't get paid in dollars. My mother's cousin is a big beekeeper, so I can sometimes have it. I specially recommend to freeze it and mill it in a blender (it comes in form of small solid balls) and then you can mix it with honey into a dough.
Somehow, although I am allergic, when I do some activity outside (like riding on a bike) I seem to be completely not responding to allergens, there can be meadows of grass, forests and everything, but I'm OK. Symptoms may come only if I stop or return home, but not always. So I see clearly the allergy is just in my mind.
Yeah, i can remember when i was about 10. I was rolling around in big grass with friends after school one day. My eyes were so swollen and itchy! That has stopped now but i still get sneezing, itchy throat/eyes, watery eyes. It is so horrible!
I am taking piriton anti histamines, it seems to be better now, i hope i will be ok.
Some summers i don't even get it at all, then other summers like this one it comes badly, i don't know how!
