Last night I went to a concert with three swedish power metal bands. It was great! First off was a small band from my hometown called Astral Kingdom. They were good, a bonus for the extra effort to do a good show with pyrotechniques and all!
After that, another band from my hometown called Axenstar came out. They were awesome! I got really surprised how good they were. If you´re interested in metal, check out Axenstar, very nice.
And finally, Nocturnal Rites. A famous powermetal band from Umeå. They were great, I mean, they´ve toured around the world for years. They are very professional. Though I had three fat, drunk, sweaty guys jumping on my feet right in front of me so it was kinda hard to enjoy the music.
Anyways, it was a great evening and a great warm up for the Tuska metal festival in finland this summer. :)
Awesome! And looks like everyone had long hair too (never been to metal concerts before).
Looks cool, i love concerts.
I'm not into metal or heavy music with the screaming and that.
But since i've started playing the guitar i love the sounds of the guitar, but still not the singing :P
I love really heavy distortion, it sounds really cool :D
Do you reckon i would need a distortion pedal to go with my amp to get even more distortion out of it?
Well, all the power metal bands at this show had normal singing and not screaming so maybe they suit you.
A good distorion pedal can give a great sound. Just remember that when you have more distortion you lose tone. So if you max the distortion, in the end, it´ll only sound like "Fschhhhhhh". So you need to find a good balance there.
Yeah, i think my guitar is playing a good role in messing me up, it's a crappy cheap guitar, need to get a better one :P
Hi Erik. Yea aren't going to shows like that in small venues cool! Even though you get people blocking your veiw at times at least you can more around a bit to get a better veiw unless its that packed which I imagine it must have been.Just the other week I went to BB KIngs Blues Club in NYC to see Emperor which was a great show even though I almost missed it!LOL.The last time I saw them there last fall I even met up with a MLHH member which was cool.Anyway glad you had fun and be careful and don't get squashed by those big guys!LOL. Mark
Power metal has become my favorite genre as of late. I'll have to check out these bands. It looks like it was a great show :-)
Oh man, I am SO jealous right now. I LOVE power metal.
I don't think I've ever seen 3 power metal bands at one concert before. You're lucky, you know?
I can't even think of any power metal bands in my state.. or nearby states... what's with that?! Americans.. meh
Anyway, looks like the show was fun... I'll check those bands out now!
