Hey,
I've been on this forum for about 3 months now, and only really started posting recently. Thought i'd contribute a little more by posting up a picture of myself...or a few.
Could I get opinions on whether I look better with or without the ponytail? Atm it's only just holding for a few minutes and then the front hairs start coming out.
Oh and last question. Should I get rid of the neck hair or just leave it there? I'm afraid of accidentally cutting real hair if I try to shave it off and I don't trust a barber, or my dad :P

You have a really good grow rate and really healthy hair !
You dont need to shave your neck hair , i dont shave it and it doesn't look bad in my opinion... if you really want to cut it ask someone you trust to do it.

For 11 months for growth that is absolutely amazing! Congrats dude. I like it without the pony tail but if you ever need to put it up it still looks fine man. And about the neck hair..everyone has it..I don't see why you should bother removing it.
Well it doesn't look as neat when wearing a ponytail, but maybe that's just me :P
Don't forget I did probably start with an inch of hair all around from my last haircut, not shaved like people often do.
Excellent-looking hair. It looks good down like in the first two pics, but the ponytail is nice as well and would be good for formal situations. Again, excellent hair. :)
Yeh, unfortunately the tail doesn't last long, so I have to do a double tail (the front hairs with a separate hairband) which doesn't look as good.

Hi! Your hair looks great both ways but I think I like the pony tail better at your current length. I trim my own neck hair, but very carefully. I stand in front of a mirror, then take a hand held mirror so I can see the back. I cover the long head hair with my left hand, put the mirror down and shave the neck hair with my right hand (electric shaver). Be careful to get all your good hair out of the way and go slowly and cautiously at first. Good Luck.

Thanks for the advice. Maybe i'll manage to properly tie all my hair up so I won't have to hold it if I shave the neck hair, but i'll wait before deciding what to do with the neck hair first. It might grow some more so I can put it into the tail. Plus, while my hair is loose the neck hair can't be seen anyway :)

Hey derf26, your hair looks great. At its current length, it looks a little better loose. You will probably want to grow another 4 to 6 inches of additional length to give you a secure ponytail. The easiest length to maintain is probably between shoulder blades and mid back. (Due to extreme length, mine requires a bit of work to maintain.)
You got that much length in 11 months? What length did you start at?
The neck hair does not look bad to me. I just leave mine alone. You should consider growing your beard to 1 or 2 inches long. I think you will look better with a full beard.

I think I started with around an inch or so all around, not shaved.
As to a full beard. Well, i'm still 16 so a full beard might be a bit extreme at my age :P I don't want to look too old to the girls at my school just yet ;)
But i'll experiment during the summer with the facial hair.
By all means experiment but I disagree about the longer beard. What you have is right.

What an IMPRESSIVE update you have posted, I am SO glad you decided to share these great photos with us. Your hair is awesome, very thick and healthy, and is the perfect type to grow super long. (any goal in mind)
Your ponytail looks great as well, have no fear, ALL the hair will remain in the tie before you know it. Shaving the neck hair is entirely up to you, some guys leave things the way they are, others choose to trim, it proably will depend on how often you hope to wear your hair in a tail. I always prefer to wear my hair down myself, but like the option of wearing my hair in a tail for certain occasions or activities.

I think my goal at the moment is mid-back length. But if the longer it gets the more I like it, then I might aswell grow it much longer. We'll see :)
One of the reasons i'm going to make photos every few months from now is to compare, so I don't miss the perfect length (if there is one).
I have been thinking more of going for the ponytail look, though it's hard to say what my hair will look like in another year of growth :P
You look good with or without the tail - so you have a choice. If it tends to pull out then leave it for a few weeks.
however SHAVE your neck now and regularly. There are numerous posts about how to do it safely.

I honestly think you look just as good with or without the tail. As for shaving the neck hair (presumably on the back of the neck), I can honestly say I've never thought about mine, so i really don't know the answer!! Cheers, see you around, Dave

Your hair sure does grow fast! It looks great, and I leave the neck hair myself. It's just going to keep growing back so why bother! HA!

That's a LOT of hair for only 10-11 months of growth. I'm nowhere near that! As for loose or a ponytail, I think both look very good on you, but I'd go for what's easier to maintain at the moment, which would seem to be the loose style (because of hairs falling out of the tail).

Wow! You must've started with a bit longer hair than usual (as opposed to a shaved head or whatever). Exceptionally nice hair. I love the color and the thickness is awesome! Keep it growing and you'll be the envy of the board. =)

Hey, man. Excellent head of hair you've got going there. I think both styles suit you very well, but I personally prefer the ponytail. It just looks mind-blowingly cool on you.
As to the neck hair, I would advise against shaving it. I can't imagine shaving that area is a lot of fun, and I don't know how often you'd then have to shave it to keep it down; and, each time you do it, you run the risk of shaving off some of your ponytail hairs. Honestly, the neck hair is probably a lot less noticeable than you may think; we tend to notice our personal defects a lot keener than most other people around us.

At the length you are at now, I think loose looks better, but your tail is coming along great also.
Shaving neck hair can be annoying and cause constant itching as it keeps regrowing. Let it grow and eventually it will be covered and mix in with the back of your hair.

Personally I am very glad you are here, and by the level of responses to this post others are too :)
As to your question...you didn't post a front-on shot with your hair down, so I can't judge on that, but at THIS stage from the side, I'd say that IMO you look better with your hair down.
Re: the neck hair, I'd just take that exact picture of yourself to a good hairdresser/stylist (NOT a [men's] barber!) and tell them that's what you'd like to have shaved off.
It varies person to person, but you might only have to go in to get that shaved of maybe once every 3 months.
Again, welcome and that's a great length for 10-11 months (although I doubt that you started from a shaved head :)
Yeh, the front shot I took of myself was way too smudged and I was pressed for time when I took these (not my camera). In fact they're all a bit smudged :P

hey Man, You look really good with the growth you have right now and to think it only gets better. As for your ???'s either down or in a tail looks good. Your hair seems to lay nicely so if it behaves wear it down. As for the neck hairs I leave mine unless I have a formal thing to go to or a job interview I'll clean it up for that.

You have really cool hair! It looks like it grows fast. Personally I'd leave it down cause I like the feeling of it on my shoulders, in the wind, etc. Both look good though. Keep it growing and keep us posted!

Fantastic update! I was beginning to notice you post very often and you're new but I didn't see your update till now. That's very impressive for 10 to 11 months and it's very thick and has a great natural wave. It should look really good when it's long. Just wait and see, dude...
