Hey guys,
I've found out about the beautiful "sport" of Parkour about a year or so ago, and have since then tried to make some proper time to start training. Well, i'm starting in a week when exams are over :)
I was wondering, how many of you have heard, or even maybe do Parkour?
If you dom't know what i'm talking about, try this:
The idea is to get from a point A to B as fast as possible, no matter what the obstacles are. This is often mistaken or mixed up with Free Running, which is more towards interacting with your environment than trying to get somewhere quickly and efficiently, though they do overlap. Parkour originated in France about 30 years ago.
This stuff is really hard, and I'm not sure if i'll have the patience to really get this going, but if I do it should be fun.
P.S. Of course, since i'm a complete rookie i'm going to avoid jumping roofs or from very high heights until i've had a few good years of practice, so don't worry i'm not suicidal :P
I've done it a few times. At one point, there was a Parkour club that used to practice on campus (UCF). A couple years ago, the school decided it was no longer acceptable (typical liability stuff), so we had to find somewhere else. After that, I stopped, as the new place was on the other side of town, and Orlando is annoying to drive around.
Be prepared for a world of hurting the first few times, especially the next morning =)
Looks really dangerous. I wouldn't try it unless you have an instructor.
