Hey Everyone! Okay, now I don't want to hear any grumbling about the consequences of using a straightening iron. I realize what damage can be done, so that's why this was a one-time experiment. I just wanted to see what my actual length is. Anyway, here are the pics...

Your hair is looking superb to say the least, and really........using the iron just once? So what. When one thinks about it, everything damages hair. The pollution in the air, the Sun shining down on it and the list could go on to fill a book.
You really have a great length going now, and all will just keep getting better and better as your hair grows longer.
grumble..grumble..
Actually I cannot preach about the dangers of the straightening iron cause for some reason I have never been near one lol, I had been known to indulge in a few perms in my short hair days though..
It's interesting to see the change, but I would say you are lucky that your natural look is more wavy cause I like the natural texture you have more. Of course I am biased cause I wish I had more interesting texture to my hair... some people are never satisfied :)
Whoa! There's a good difference between the length of it while wavy and straight! Looks awesome like that, but your natural hair looks just as good! I've always wanted to see what wavy hair looked like on me.. oh well! I agree with the "one is never satisfied" comment! :P
Wow! Looks great. I've wanted to try it on my hair to see the full length, but I'm always scared off by everyone on here talking against straightening. Though I wonder how bad it can really be when so many women do it all the time and seem to have hair that's just fine.
Hi James
So you sinned by usuing a straightening iron, I'll confess I use a blow dryer once in a while but I finger comb it as I dry it so I can feel if its dry or not. My hair survived and yours looks good straight it was cool to see it that way.
Kevin
Wow! It looks great either straight or natural, i've also used the straightening iron a few times when my hair hair was longer, but because my hair seems to be rather fragile, i stopped using it.
Simon
As always James your is looking really, really good :-)
Hey James
First off thanks for replying to my email the other day,i really appreciated it.As for your straightened hair pics, your looking superb mate,i also straightened my hair when it was long last year to see the length and it didnt do me any harm just the once.
Keep up the great growing James :)
WHOA, James!
I am VERY impressed with your length in these pictures, you are getting some serious longhaired look going there! Shhh, I won't tell anyone about the straightening iron, we can forgive you one small trangression, after all. Anyway, your hair is looking wonderful, and thanks again for all you have contributed to this community.
All the best,
David
Using it sometimes wont damage your hair at all, it's the constant use that does all of the damage!
I agree...you're getting some good length there, dude. Sheesh, your bangs are catching up with mine and I've got another year on ya! It appears to be growing really well. looks awesome...you've got to be very pleased. Keep it growin' and keep those updated comin', brother!
Take care,
~G
Your hair looks fantastic, James.
I suppose straightening your hair once in a blue moon won't cause damage.
Wow, that really makes it look a lot longer! Cool experiment.
Mouse
I thought you already had straight hair! HAHA! To me anyway!
Seriously, it looks great and does indeed show the length. If you do want to straighten it more frequently, I've heard that a ceramic iron and a heat protection spray beforehand works wonders. I know women who staighten their hair rather frequently with good results, but then again, they maintain no longer than shoulder length hair.
Nice look James. Question: when you use the straightening iron, does the limpness/body of the hair remain the same?
Wow, your hair now looks longer than ever! I´m sure there´s no damage. You have to straighten your hair often so that there is damage and also your hair is way too short to have degraded that much. It´s worse if it´s really long and you straighten it.
Anyway, the pics are great and your hair is long for 13 months! Can´t wait till next month´s update. Keep it growing, James!
I really appreciate everyone's comments. I did put apply some hair oil before using the iron, so that may be why my hair appears a little on the greasy side in these photos. To answer a question that was proposed... The body of my hair really doesn't change all that much after straightening. If I shake my head, it still stays all "poofy" and full.
Anyways, thanks again, guys! =)

Ha, like Bragi, I thought your hair was pretty straight already. But it certainly looks cool straightened; it's a good look for you if you want to do it again later on. It doesn't look damaged at all, which is a positive thing.
Keep it growing, man!
Peace
Hi James!
Great hair. I quite like it wavy though. Did you use ceramic straightners or is it just a little wet? It looks like it might just be a little wet.
Cheers!
RM
jk, you have fantastic hair to say the least/
