Hello everyone, well for vacation, I screwed up and got caught by cops drinking ileagaly. I got a 200 dollar ticket and a court date pending. My parents are making me pay for the fine, so I need a job. My hair is in the middle of the awkward stage about down to my chin. Will someone hire me, or will I need to trim? If I do, 8 months go down the drain

Dustin:
Can you use whatever it takes (water, hairspray, gel, etc)to get your hair into a form that will look neat and clean to what may be a conservative employer? If you can, do it! Get the job. Work your work, and grow your hair. If not, I don't think it sounds too hopeful. Employers of teenagers want to know that they can trust you. Unfortunately, the culture is against you on this one, but you can win the confidence if you want to. Just for thought, you say your parents are making you do this? Who do you think ought to pay for it? Answer the question and then go from there. Good luck.

I think you should be able to find someone who will hire you with your long hair. I always have, and I wouldn't cut if just for that reason alone. As far as the court date, I wouldn't cut it for that either. There are long hair attorneys now days!
Good Luck,
Darrin
Thanks for the support, well I wasn't planning on cutting it for the court date or any stuff like that, and yes for a minor in consumption
they do give 200$ tickets, plus it was at a resort, they have nothing better to do. I currently do have it slicked back, about as clean as I can get it, however my mother is making me go to a salon (a nice one) to get my hair styled some way, I told her, I'll do it, but I am not cutting anything...although its debateable, because the back is about 2 inches longer than anything else, so when slicked back it looks like a mullet, which isn't the look I am exactly trying for right now.

Two hundred dollars? I have two questions.
a) What state gives out 200 dollar tickets...and
b) That's gotta be for a DWI, right? They don't just do that for regular underage drinking, do they?
Maybe you could slick it back. There was a guy at my old school who had pretty long hair, but he looked as conservative as anybody because he would use mousse to slick it back (the school had a rigid dress code). He couldn't have it long in the back though.
A)Save the money and convert the fine into community service.
B)The supervisor you report to for community service will not have a position on your hair. What's he gonna say, "go home, I don't need a hippie on my work detail"?
I'm surprised at you! How could you even consider a cut?
The fact that you'd bring it up suggests to me that you may not be as devoted to your long hair project as you have said. You don't really want to return to a buzzcut now, do you? Or... do you?
Salon or no, "trim" or no, leave it long! There are a number of good jobs for youth out there where hair plays no role at all. Good luck, and let us know how it goes.
And keep off the booze! Too many arrests, and the next thing you know you'll be off to one of those juvenile "boot camps"... and you know what they do to hair there! Yikes!
There isn't a chance in heck I'd cut my hair to a buzcut. By trim
I mean evan out the hair slightly, its either that, or get a buzzcut by order of my mom or brother (who wouldn't hesitate to sneak into my room and do it at night) I am as devoted as anyone else, It has been 8 months since I have gotten a cut, and I don't intend to cut anything more than two week off at most. I evan told my mom, I'll get it styled however, but I WILL NOT CUT IT...also, I did get a job at the fair in a month so I have time to look around, but you must realize my perdicament, I have an extremely short period of time to come up with 200$, and having a felony on my record kind of makes things a bit more tough. I'm shocked you respond to it so negatively, and critisizingly I have been considering this every day for the last two weeks, its all I can do short of moving out.
I didn't mean to sound bossy. Just trying to give you encouragement to keep it long. I guess I didn't realize how much pressure you must be under.
If you have a brother who's threatening to buzz you in your sleep, that's rough. Do you think he'd really do it?
Do whatever you have to do, and let us know how things go at the barbershop.
