Hi, I'm 19 and have been curious about long hair for some years, I love how it looks and want to see if it fits me.
However my hair is wavy-curly, I really don't know how to see the difference, my main fear is that I will develop an afro. What do you think? I'll be sticking around and go out for some biotin, I've been about 2 months without a haircut and its my historic max. See you guys around. You can ICQ me at 4119720.
Mine, too is wavy/curly (especially in the summer).
The "awkward stage" will probably cause you to have second thoughts, but press on with your desire for long hair.
As soon as you can, start forming a pony tail. It will keep at least the top part of your hair straight and below the band it can do what it wants. The difficulty may come from the hairs on the side, which are usually shorter when you start out. When you have the tail, you can tuck them up underneath the hairs that are pulled back.
Another option is temporary use of some form of "goop." I use Paul Mitchell's Foaming Pommade to keep my obstreporus hairs in line (not to mention some added "shine".
Good luck. Don't let the awkward stage defeat you.
