Hi everyone. Been away for a while in good old California, which was very enjoyable. Noticed that there were a lot more 'long hairs' in Santa Monica, and it seemed to be more of a norm.So I felt right at home. Included is a pic of me trying to look masculine with my hairband! lol!
Got me thinking, does anybody else have experiences where they have visited areas where long hair was more prevalent. (this site excepted of course)
Troy
Well, in Sweden it's very common to see longhaired men, almost always when i go out for shopping and such i see at least one longhaired, if not more:)
Simon
There's a lot in the Pacific Northwest but it's big in alternative everything pretty much.
I just got back from spending a week at the beach in Ft. Lauderdale, FL which is where i grew up. I found that there were not as many longhairs hanging out at the beach in Ft Lauderdale as I expected although there were a few to be seen. I live in Albuquerque, NM now and I have to say that this is probably one of the most longhair friendly cities I've been to... I'm sure that there are others which are even more so, however it was good to get back to Abq just for the prevelence of long hair here. On the other hand, having been to the beach recently I am wondering what ever could have pursuaded me to move to the desert!!?? :)
Great photo of you at the beach.. hope you had a great time!
Hi there Troy,
I wish I could say that in Orange County (south of LA/Santa Monica) there aren't that many long hairs though it is accepted. I do usually see 1 or 2 other long hairs when I go out but that is usually it. I hope you enjoyed your trip to my home state ;)
Not very many in my area (Orlando). South Florida was even worse. When I lived in Boca Raton, I started thinking longhairs were a dying breed.
One area that seems to have a huge longhair population is east Tennessee, out in the rural areas. Every time I go up to visit family there, I'm always amazed. Can't throw a rock in that area without hitting a longhair.
i am of the opinion that any guy who goes out in public with his hair in a headband, braids, pigtails, buns, etc. are automatically more masculine. it's all about the confidence and not giving a crap what other people think. :)
You do weights huh :)
I'm hoping i'll look something like that muscle wise in about a year when I leave for uni, because it doesn't matter what hair you got, or if you wear a load of pink, or whatever, but if you have muscle then a) no one will mess with you, b) there won't be mistaking you for a girl, and c) it looks awesome.
All you need is to get a spear and shield, and you can look like the guys in 300 :P
Hey Troy...
Boulder, Colorado is pretty long-hair friendly... however; as you get further away from Boulder is becomes much less common..
What bodybuilding supplements do you use? (if any)...
Tristan
Hi Tristan. In answer to your question I take a little creatine and some protein powder, although I am in the fitness profession so am always able to incorporate working out in my daily life.
Take care.
Troy
I see plenty of longhairs in Madison WI where I work and once lived. Being a college town though thats not surprising as well as Wisconsin being a blue state, except the rural areas tend to be somewhat red I don't see many of them outside of Madison or Milwaukee.
