Hey all. As you can tell, I'm a new member but I've been visiting this site since November, envying you lucky guys with long hair. :P
On to the point...I've always wanted to grow my hair out ever since I was 12 years old (16 now). Possibly influenced by friends, cousins, etc. who most had shoulder-length hair while I didn't.
For example, most of my friends and classmates have or used to have long hair, and I thought they looked much BETTER with their hair long. Seriously, it changes how the person looks A LOT!
So my best friend, Paco or should I say, Francisco who has been growing his hair out since December 2005 recommended me to grow my hair out. His hair looked good and he could put it in his mouth and nose! He mocks me when he does that. O.o
The problem? Ever since I was a kid my parents would force me to cut my hair into a ''buzzcut'' every 2 months, or 3 if I'm lucky. :-/ I was getting sick of it and I just KNEW long hair would look better on me...
Now, my hair has been growing for 5 months and 7 days since last time I cut it which was on January 13th.
I know it's 'tame' as opposed to you guys but that's the longest I've ever had it grow. <_<
Anyway, most people are really surprised by my hair, like my cousin who came back from The Netherlands (his father works there) commented on how awesome I looked with the fringe covering my forehead and brows. It looks long at the front which I'm happy about since when I cut it in January the hair covering my forehead was non-existant. ^.^
So...wondering what exactly am I worried about in the topic title? THE TRIMMING.
Yeah, my dad forced me (*Sigh*) to trim my hair on the sides since it was covering my entire ears. I TRIED convincing him that it was no problem by pushing it behind my ears but he would have none of it.
Damn it, I thought. After all the growing, my hair would NEVER be equal again unless I cut it all, etc.
At the barbers, I was literally telling him not to cut it TOO much every 10 seconds. At the end I was dissapointed since I think he 'trimmed' too much...but what could I do? I payed him and went off.
This was yesterday, BTW. June 19th.
As for my hair length, I want to know how fast it's growing since I see/feel little change over the last 1 1/2. T_T
My friends tell me that for 5 months, their hair was a bit longer than mine...
Also, I think my trimming will affect the length in a few months time as I don't want to have a semi-mullet!
Believe it or not, I cried after watching myself in the mirror. And I rarely ever cry. My brother (19) says I'm 'gay' for growing my hair out. Well, what does he know?! I'm not even metro!
I never use gel or other hair products, only shampoo and conditioner (obviously), I never straighten my hair other than combing since it's already naturally straight and I never dye it. It's naturally black.
Anyway, tell me if the trimming is that bad and if my hair is growing decent for 5 months after a buzzcut.
Unfortunately, I can only use my bro's cam and he's asleep now so I'll take pics tommorow and upload them here.
I will take pics of the front, sides and back to give you a good impression of it.
Thanks and in the meantime, please reply about the trimming, etc.

Welcome to the Site
Thanks for posting your concerns about trimming your hair and regarding Trimming your hair its best to just trim your hair when it needs it like split ends for an example To remove split ends:
Take small sections of hair and carefully twist them in a gentle downward motion.
Any split ends will automatically stick out.
Carefully snip into the twist with sharp scissors. Dont cut right through; just cut into the thickness to remove the damaged cuticles and give a natural layered effect.
Be careful to cut roughly the same amount from each twist.
Also its not gay for guys to have have long hair your brother needs to get a life and grow up to !
